AEON 2 Closed
I bought these in December 2019, about a month out from release date, because the Aeons were my probably my favourite closed-back headphones, and the Aeon 2's bring with them two huge upgrades: a notable sound stage increase (for a closed back) and a collapsing yoke structure, which allows the headphone to collapse down to half the size for travel (about double the thickness of typical wireless carry cases, but a third of the size of the original Aeon's carry case). These were massive selling points for me, so I dropped the insane R17 000 to land them in the country. It honestly breaks my heart to get rid of this, but I cycled through a lot of different listening requirements this year, and these just don't excite me like they did . With lockdown, they haven't had the ear time next to my HD800S, but this is still a tough decision.
Honestly, this is truly end-game to a lot of folk. High quality closed backs are hard to find, and the fact that these are really portable means they can go on the road really easily as well. Truly an amazing pair of travel headies! They're also AMAZING gaming headphones due to the soundstage. All you need is a modmic!
Really hope these go to a happy home! The red paint job is fire, too!
