No. The XS is now a much more appealing phone design wise. The new 11 camera square is fugly.

Why remove 3D Touch? It was something nobody else had, and I actually like it.

I am inclined to go buy an XS now (hope it gets price slashed to be even more appealing), as the new iPhone is a downgrade on some levels.

3D Touch is removed in iOS 13 beta, so it seems it's gone on older devices as well. From what I can see it only works on the camera/torch shortcuts on the lockscreen. All other 3D Touch functionality has been replaced by long touch only.

I was hoping the renders where not true, but they where and damn that new iphone is ugly. Steve Jobs would have fired them all..
Tbh, all phones with multiple cameras look bad. Feels like such an after thought to the enire phone's design.

It's also much of a muchness... They all look similar these days.

Yeah I agree most phones are beginning to all look the same

But in terms of the cameras I don't care how they look but rather how they work

woefully underwhelmed by the new iphone. literally almost nothing new there for the R30,000 price tag we will have in SA for the PRO

Note 9, S10+, Iphone X, XS MAX Oneplus 7 pro still best phones to my mind. And can be had for far less than that expensive thing.

This years event was also by far the worst and most rushed one I have ever seen, looks like apple are also feeling financial pressure somehow

The ironic part with features being taken away people will still be happy buying a new iphone xD

Apple really worked hard how to make something worse than the notch. And credit to their R&D, they have succeeded.

Don't agree with that. The Note 10's rear design is neat enough.

As a huge Apple fan I sadly have to agree, the iPhone 11's rear looks very disgusting. It's the ugliest iPhone ever made for sure.

Some people call it to the stovetop.

This would be my budget choice: https://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_009591521059.html?wid=1349303
$469 for the normal OP7 and the Pro could be the slightly more expensive premium option.

Oneplus babeh! ANDROID POWA!
7t coming soon :D so further price drops hopefully

These faster and faster chips mean little for user experience ... I think we at a point where the performance of most high end smart phones is adequate.

What we do need is better battery life (they say 5 hours more on this 11 pro max) ... Better phone durability (screens scratches breaks etc). I know there is a secondary market for accessories that would potentially be hurt if a phone makers decided to do a sapphire crystal display

But the innovation strategy for most cell phone makers is to give us better cameras and turn us all into movie producers. I am quite content with my phone's current photography abilities and was content with the phone before it and the phone before that tbh. If I really was into photography I would have had some serious photography gear already (especially at the iPhone price point)

People have become too fixated on benchmarks and epeen rivarily. Those benchmarks mean nothing in day to day use. Two things apple should have done:

1 drop the price on the phone to be inline with the note 10 plus spec for spec

2 64gb minimum. The least they could have done was double it

Arrogance for any company no matter your size is a dangerous thing. Apple should consider they in a market with a few good alternatives consumers now have ... My opinion is sales will be the worst apple have seen in years on a new iPhone release (I could be very wrong but just on looks alone this thing is ugly) ... There just doesn't seem anything much "new" for me. From the end I'll be using the phone it will look exactly the same ... The UI will be exactly the same. The experience at which I do stuff will be exactly the same. I am going back to android (note 10 plus). Bought the leather cover for it already [emoji1787]

another mention in terms of the alternatives to the Oneplus 7 and 7 pro has to be the Xiaomi Mi 9T pro or even the Mi 9 - they are fairly cheaper than the One plus 7 pro and just about match anything that the Oneplus does - besides the Mi 9T pro has absolutely no notch and is basically only missing the wireless charging capability which is something that isnt too hectic for me since the puck has the wire anyway so who are they fooling by calling it wireless charging

Honestly? Both have their pros.

iOS is better built from the ground up and doesn’t have the shitty skins that Samsung or other manufacturers have but it does lack certain ‘nice to have’ features.

I will get the new iPhone in the Uk but I do think the Samsung S9 was an amazing phone and their new ones are also great.

the one thing though - after looking through google images i tend to agree with the people who say that the iphone 11 is as fugly as hell - it really really is terribly ugly and i think that they are going in the totally direction re looks

Heh? They look 99% the same other than the cameras.

Regardless everyone should be buying an iPhone 11 and ignoring the Pro stuff as it doesn't really offer any great value.

I still have a 6s plus, put it next to the X and the X feels stupid without the home button and fingerprint id.
So for all these generations Iphone for me although getting ever so slightly better than the 6s plus never once did I think hey I need to go spend R30,000 on the new iphone. I wouldn't mind one, but they can keep it at that price.

Same thing happening with note 9 to note 10. Really not much there that is so much better than the previous device.
And the glass everywhere sucks, this metal body 6s plus has stood the test of time and looks like new (and it has fallen more than I care to remember).

I sold my broken note 8 after the 2nd screen repair, as it just shatters when you look at it funny.

So for guys on contract this might be a decent enough upgrade, I hate contracts and bought all my phones cash. So even if I could pay R30k for a smartphone, it really doesnt seem very enticing this year.

And the stove on the 11 pro max is fugly to say the least. I keep hoping it would grow on me, but nope.

I will never buy a R30k phone ever - not when there's phones under R10k that do everything which the more expensive phone does (sometimes more quickly and efficiently) but more importantly that suits my purposes as well as the more expensive item would

The Chinese android phones are amazing for the amounts you spend versus what they are capable of doing in comparison to the really expensive American stuff - so yep IMHO I would rather cheap it out
