Cyberpunk 2077

Only played 1.5h so far and wow this game is something different and exciting.

Specs:
3700X, GTX1080, 32GB 3200MHz, 1080p144Hz G-Sync

I used Fraps to track my FPS:

Min: 37FPS
Average: 59.798FPS
Max: 83FPS

So it is definitely playable, G-Sync helped with the low framerate drop.

Running at 1080p with the following settings:

*Crowd Control Density on low

Hmm, my settings are slightly different but that's cuz I was on 1440P. Can probably push things a little more now that I switched to my 1080P monitor.

Check GPU-Z to see if you are running PCIE x16.
Go to NVIDIA Control Panel settings, add Cyberpunk's exe and set it to "Prefer Maximum Performance".
Try borderless windowed mode in the graphics settings of Cyberpunk, or if it is using that then try fullscreen instead.
I just tried all of this and still no difference. Can My CPU be the bottleneck?

RAM is running at 3600mhz 16 gigs.

Why is this decision so damn difficult to make.....

Agreed. Dropped a few more hours. The early game is excellent. Story building nicely. Some great lore on the Nomad run. I'm just loving everything about it right now.

So yeah, I lose about 30% FPS when playing @ 5120x1440p VS 2560x1440p... But its worth it... 43fps aint THAT bad....

Yes it is...
My lowest dip so far was 48 frames, even that was playable. Just felt like I was playing on a PS4 Pro for a bit. But I'm averaging 55-62 with my 2080Ti. 1440p. Graphics on a mix of high and ultra. DLSS on quality. HDR on.

Just read on the NVIDIA site that Raytraced Global Illumination is only available on the Psycho setting.
They really chucked every raytracing aspect into this game, and yet it still doesn't match Control. V doesn't even cast reflections.
The NVIDIA screenshots look great, but I'm not really seeing such a huge improvement in graphics with RT on ultra.

The SSR is so good in this game that I don't feel like I'm losing out by disabling RT.

Would be nice if they optimize it a bit more though, maybe clean up the DLSS so there's less shimmering on certain surfaces.
I have a feeling the game is going to feel much better with another month or two of patches

Agreed. Light years from Control's ray tracing. What do you mean by global illumination? (game still looks really pretty though).

NVIDIA explains it better than I can :
In reality, sunlight bounces, increasing the illumination of nearby surfaces and objects. Furthermore, the color properties of surfaces are absorbed and added to bounces, so for example, bright light bounced from a red wall to a white tiled floor would feature a tinge of red.

Recreating this effect in games requires ray tracing, and by setting the Ray Traced Lighting option to ‘Psycho’ you can enable it in Cyberpunk 2077.

This effect is applied exclusively to light cast by the sun, with one bounce. It’s demanding, but if your system’s got the headroom to enable it, you’ll experience next-level realism and fidelity.

I feel like NVIDIA is using DLSS as a crutch for RT at the moment.
I remember the rumours of how Ampere would reduce the performance hit of raytracing, but it didn't really end up that way.
It's still brutal.

man this is probably one of the best games I have ever played. 3080 runs it no sweat. rtx meduim and ultra details. Check linus' vid

Had a good laugh earlier around the 21 minute mark.

I just started and choose nomad so I haven't gotten to the city yet but I've driven around and it's super smooth for me on medium, I turned off screen space reflections and set some of the shadow options to low, locked my FPS to 60 in-game and it has not dropped under 60FPS once, I was honestly expecting the worse. I assume in the city it will go down to the 50s but right now I am very happy.

i7 4770 and a 1660Ti playing at 1080P.

Driving into NC is an experience I will remember for a long while. Enjoy it dude! Music is off the charts superb as well. Your frames will drop a bit in the car around NC, I suspect 5-10 frames depending on rain or not.

running an average of 70-90fps with settings set to RTX Ultra, but even with RTX off the fps increase is like 10fps.
Definitely not worth the extremely shitty and smokey visuals without it.
Never thought I would actually like rtx, but oh well, here we are.

Enemies feel a bit like bullet sponges though.
Body shots barely do anything so forced to play with a pistol and go for headshots most of the time.
Gameplay is pretty much like Hitman, nobody can notice if there is nobody to notice, so just kill everyone as long as they aren't a civ and the cops leave you alone. pissing them off ain't worth it at this point just yet.

If someone has already shared this, my apologies.
If you dont already follow the gift to mankind that is Kurzgesagt...kindly do so, for your own mental health (and, mostly, the existential anxiety).

✌️

Man I really wish this game had a benchmark tool. Thought I had my settings dialed in and wanted to try out the Streetkid prologue but it turns out that's a much heavier ask from the GPU than Nomad.
Neon and reflections are cool and all but it feels like when the new consoles were announced all development on the game ceased and they've spent all the delays just putting reflective surfaces and light sources everywhere.
