Hi guys need help with my current hardware situation. Specs are as follows:

CPU: Intel Celeron E3300 2.5GHz @ 3.6GHz (#TheStruggle)
Mobo: ASUS P5G41T LX
Cooler: Thermalright Silver Arrow
Ram: 8gb DDR3
GPU: Direct CU TOP R9 280x
PSU: vs650

This is the rig I've scraped together with old parts and cheap deals. Now I need advice on what to do with the processor and motherboard story. I game at 1080p and mostly play games like the COD series online, LOL and other similar low-medium hardware demanding games but want to play gta V and a few newer titles so will a decent quad core 775 cpu still be able to handle new and upcoming titles at playable frame rates or should I not bother and just upgrade to another platform? The main issue is my non existent student budget of R1500 for a CPU and mobo. If need be that I upgrade what platform/cpu/mobo would be best to upgrade too or can I just get a quad 775 and say a cheap SSD for mahala?

If on a budget try get one of the q9xxx quads, preferably one with 12mb cache, otherwize get 1155 i5 and cheap mb(this will be a better option)

I would seriously push for an 1155 setup.
Bear in mind that with your power supply and graphics card you won't be able to overclock the balls off a Q6600 or something like that.

That link posted above is a great example of Sandy Bridge gaming hardware for cheap, and that'll be a massive step up from anything LGA775 can offer.

My friend is playing GTA5 on an 1155 i3 just fine by the way.
...not great, but fine.

It is. I also upgraded on a budget from an LGA775 setup in December last year. My rig is as it is now in my signature below my post. I sold off a bunch of old stuff I wasn't using anymore and the upgrade in total cost me maybe R3,000, for everything. I have a new case (R200 total upgrade), PSU (R500 total upgrade), motherboard (R500 upgrade cost), RAM (R400 upgrade cost), CPU (R500 upgrade cost), cooler (trade), GPU (about R1,500 over two upgrades) and several HDD's. EXCELLENT bargain hunting can produce epic results on Carb, trust me. I then sold off the old stuff (pricing deducted on purchase cost) and some more to cover most of the cost of the upgrades. Start with a mobo and CPU and work your way up from there!
