If you have the clips, any 120mm fan will fit.

You're welcome. If you don't have the clips, my 212+ is for sale with two fans and clips installed. Sell the 212X and get mine, they're pretty much the same cooler... :)

BTW, if I get a normal 120mm fan, they come with the normal 4 pin PSU connector... so the MB wont have any control over it.. I guess that is how it is then as there is normally only one cpu fan plug....

um nope

fans most of the time, if in fact not all the time, come with either a 3-pin or 4-pin fan connector

and you should be able to use a Y-splitter on the motherboard header if you have more than one fan

Normal 120mm fans come with a 3-pin plug with 3 wires leading to the fan, as OTC mentioned. This fan's speed can be controlled with a manual hardware fan controller (either external or on the motherboard). You should look for a PWM fan. It comes with a 4-pin plug. This fan is controlled using Pulse Width Modulation (which is what PWM stands for). This is the type of speed control used on CPU cooler fans primarily, and the fans are generally a little bit more expensive. Worth it though, as they're often also the best quality in terms of build and also quietest with the best air movement.
