One of my family members has the Chev.
Hasnt ever given her mechanical problems - but the interior finishes in the car (the dash, steering wheel, gearstick and mechanism etc etc) is HORRIFICALLY cheap and nasty.... Hard textured plastic EVERYWHERE ... honestly ... feels like they collected used clover milk bottles, compressed them down and made them a dashboard.
The only reason we got it over the NP200 was because the Chev was a 1.8l and we needed the extra torque.
Agree with this. NP200 is the better choice.I was involved in a few aspects of the Chev utility exhaust & had some first hand experience and knowledge of the manufacture of the bakkie...… best you steer clear
Good - they were poor, low value for money, riding the profit wave vehicles. The USA equivalent of TATA ....since Chevrolet is no more in the country
I’m actually very surprised by the responses here, the Chev seemed like a better value bakkie from my viewings and test ride...
So the Nissan seems to be the right choice but do I go petrol or diesel?
I'm also surprised by this. Of cos i dnt know whats behind or underneath it. I drive one daily, got it since new. I have no issue's with it. Of cos its plastic and "cheaply" built. But for the price it was I expected that. But it drives very nice. I drove a friends Np200 and its not as good as the chev. And said it himself his np200 is not as good as the chev.
Why is the chev so popular if its not that good, for its price range? Is there something better in this category? Maybe a Ford Ranger with leather interior, lmao?
That's just it, there isn't much else but at least the corsa bakkie was quality
The chev is not bad in my experience.I'm also surprised by this. Of cos i dnt know whats behind or underneath it. I drive one daily, got it since new. I have no issue's with it. I am not a big car guy/fan, but why don't Toyota join the 'small bakkie' design.
Everyone knows how reliable Toyota is and how good it keeps it value overtime when you sell it later on.
I mean there isn't a lot of competition out there and if Toyota can design a lekker bakkie with a competitive price I am sure they will own it.
I for one will be interested because a bakkie is way more practical compared to a car and not to mention it will be better suited for a male student's first vehicle.
