I want to spray the inside, back and side panels black of my HAF 932. What all will i need to make this possible. I already know how to take my case apart. Just wanted to know what spray paint to purchase, if i have to sand, if i have to use a primer etc. I don't wanna take my rivets out cause then its gonna take too long and I don't wanna take longer than a weekend with the spaying of the inside of the case.

Thanx in advance.

If you want to do a proper job of the inside of the case then you're gonna have to get dirty and take off some pop rivets :). And yea, a primer should ideally be used I think. I used plascon aerolak, very good quality stuff that. And to get the old paint off maybe see if you can get a good sand blast done, that is the best way to get rid of old paint.

First tip...take your time...dont rush it cause it will looks ****....

YOu need to drill out pop riviets, sand it down, brush (air blower works great) and wipe to get all the dust of. Get a good metal primer (cant recall any names now...its friday :p but get the grey not the white as the white needs more coats of paint) and prime it. leave it to dry as per the instructions of the specific primer, sand and prime again...do that about 2-3 times to ensure a good bond between the primer and metal. once done, let it dry for a good 4-6hours.

Then you can commence with your spraying. remember, keep the can 20-30cm from the case when spraying otherwise you will cause streaks and blotches.
When you doing your first layer, dont spray to finish (ie, so its covered 100%) give it a good first layer, let it dry, another layer and so on until you happy with the spread, cover and eveness of the paint.

Let dry and pop rivet back together.

All this can be done in a weekend.

TIPS AND SAFETY
- spray in well ventilated area
- if you have a dust mask, or something similiar, use it!
- use gloves as some spray paints can cause alergic reactions
- dont spray in cold weather as your drying times will take longer and the bonding wont be so effective.
- keep the can 20-30cm apart.
- take your time and do it properly.

If you want to do your case quick cause you want to rebuild your pc in it, just build your pc on a table without the case until such time as the case is finished.

Unfortunately I dont have a rivet gun or a drill...gotta make do with what i got. Is there no way of just doing it on the inside? like removing all parts that can be removed except rivetted parts. And then do it?

I have drills..a few and a rivet gun if you want I can help you out, you in Cape Town it seems?. Also good idea is to take a bucket of hot water from the tap, as hot as you can get it and leave the cans in there for 10-15 minutes. This will help even out the spray and make it more consistent.

If the metal is already painted (normally powder coated) there is no need to sand it down to the metal, giving the paint a light sanding with some hi grit paper would suffice, the previous paint will act as the primer. And i agree with Flikka, the warmer the paint the better the flow so it will give you good coverage, just dont rush it, lots of light coats rather than a few heavy ones...

If your going for a nice mirror type finish your going to want to get a block and water sand between coats, not heavy sanding just lightly, and then finish off with some clear coat, and again water sand at the end... if will turn out top notch even with rattle paint cans..

when i did mine tons of news paper tape and i didnt take out any rivets jus make sure u expose only what u want to spray
i gave my case a gray primer coat then painted red and crack black . toi helped me out. also spray from far, practice with something first to be sure u can get it on thin and even, u can always put more when its dry
