I am growing tired of people complaining about the size of these updates.
People love to complain without attempting to understand why a decision is made.
This applies to much more than just this game's update size issues but it digress.


Q: So the why are the updates so large you may ask?

Quick A: To accommodate for the slow AF (stock) HDDs in current gen consoles.

Old Hdds have terrible random seek times, so textures and data is written multiple times at optimal locations on the HDD itself to minimise seeks and to decrease load time on HDDs.
If this was not done, HDD players would have stutter and extremely long load times.
Once consoles move to SSDs as standard (ie. no more HDDs to be seen at all), this will not be the case anymore. We will very likely see smaller/similar sized games even though the textures will be higher res.

Already 50% of the way through. Getting max 6MB and again it fluctuates but again its better than the last patch

Still better than the last patch.
Its just the sheer volume of connections that they are struggling with.
10GB to go on my side. Down to 4mb now.

and the joys if playstation, to install the update you need free space equivalent to roughly 1.5 times the final install size of the game.
So even though i had 170gb free, wont install update... sadness...
Had to finally delete Battlefield...

Yeah agreed.
Its the fact that 3-4 times during the season there are 20gb+ patches.
I am not looking forward to seeing how big this folder will be after the update.
Current size on Disk: 191 GB (205 748 162 560 bytes) This is during the update

Well apparently after the install the folder will only be 4GB bigger.

I really love that we get frequent updates, fixes and now, new content.

I really hate using Battle.net though, definitely the worst of the lot. I also hate the HUGE sizes of the updates. But anyway, excited to try the new stuff. Plunder is my favourite mode, sometimes we play the objective, sometimes we just see how many kills we can get. Basically deathmatch on a large map. Awesome.

NO it did, about 6GB
The previous size was from during update.

Last night was 184GB

yeah the operative word here being SOMETIMES
I was on Europe region and tried Americas and its pretty much the same.

Ill just hurry up and wait

Yes sir, having the same issue at the moment. I sometimes get to chose multiplayer or warzone and then baaaaaaang

Fetching online profile and that's where it ends before giving me a error and only option is quiting to desktop with error 8192

Seeing that they removed Plunder for the weekend (hopefully only the weekend) , I had some time to make a little video.

Rage clips start at 1:48 and my favorite rage is at 3:50.

I'm by no means the best player, but I do allright for my "advanced" gaming age. Keke

Nice plays man. if I may make a suggestion, it's difficult to hear the voice over the music. Maybe a tune to the audio levels so we can enjoy their pain as much as you did.
