Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Blackout Battle Royale

Managed to get 3 games yesterday. 1x squad and 2x solo.

Must say, I really enjoyed it. Lobby takes long to fill up, but it gives you time to try out the different guns.

I just finally got into a game after clicking deploy an endless amount of times, the lobby filled up all the way and I got an 8 kill win.

I like Blackout and I'd definitely play it but not for R799 and I don't really have any interest in the normal MP.

This release was purely targeted at consoles without a doubt in my mind. I fell the server limit for pc was also greatly reduced. 1 or 2 slots per mode [What a joke] - That should be worring for some, as what happens when you can nolonger find a single game after release?
COD - Fun but still a joke to the PC community. Have fun console users [It must be fun getting into lobbies].
So far I got into a game in closed beta with @PancakesZA [Of which we won a squad game].
After open beta we tried squads which took us forever to even get a game, of which we finally found 2 - 1 was hopeless zero loot, bad circle and then we ran into fully kitted team and dead [bad luck o well, we move on]. We wait a decade again to get into a game and we get a Win. Everyone goes to bed because we sick of it, and because its late from having to wait all that time.

GG black ops GG.

Agreed, by the time you find a match you're over it, like last night I was excited, the open beta started there should be a lot of people online, I'm going to play for at least two hours, I could not find a match in any mode and decided I no longer feel like it.

Side note, so the 9 bang is pretty much the best item in the game right?

It’s nice having a BR with local ping but damn it took forever to find games. Sure it’s beta but still.

Couldn’t get used to the game. No matter the mouse sensitivity it always feels like I’m over or under-aiming and the time to kill feels like a lifetime. Not buying. I’ll happily play Ring of Elysium for free even with international latencies. At least it’s lightyears better than PUBG

<Insert next BR name> is definitely the Pubg killer!

Was excited to try this just for the sake of it, but until someone comes along with the intention to make an esports viable BR to compete with Pubg, all we going to get are these super casual, arcadey BR's that prove time and time again that the success of Pubg isn't some flook despite all of its issues.

Can confirm, 9 bangs are the best item in the game, DaddyCOol if you ever read this, I did you dirty.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta - Post Beta Recap | Charlie INTEL

As the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta is now offline across platforms, Treyarch has shared on Reddit an extended recap summarizing up all of the big feedback they’ve received and some of the changes they plan to make ahead of the game’s launch on October 12.

Here’s the full recap from Treyarch:

Armor
Armor’s role in Blackout is inherently unique compared to its role in MP. You only live once in Blackout, and you’re rewarded for scavenging in areas that often put you in perilous positions, especially as the Collapse gets smaller in the late game. For this and other reasons, we’ve been cautious about making sweeping changes to the way Armor works, though we’ve made some tweaks during the Beta and continue to evaluate how Armor will work at launch.

Every Item in the game, from Armor to Weapons to Perks, is constantly re-evaluated to ensure they fit in the correct place in the game’s meta. You can expect Armor to be tuned multiple times as the game, and the gameplay content, evolves over time.

Some changes to Armor since the start of the Beta include:

  • Spawn frequency of Level 3 Armor has been reduced by 75% compared to its initial spawn rate in the Beta.
  • Level 3 Armor will now most frequently be found in Stashes and Supply Drops, though it may occasionally spawn in the world.
  • Level 3 Armor now breaks sooner and passes more damage to the player wearing it, and still offers headshot and other types of damage mitigation. We’ve heard your concerns that Level 3 Armor was still perhaps too powerful by the end of the Beta, and will be evaluating the data to see what other tweaks may be required.
  • Level 2 Armor was also minorly adjusted during the Beta and will potentially be tweaked further in time for launch.
  • Players will see an indicator of the condition of their own Armor, and those of their teammates, in the HUD. This provides a more granular indicator of the damage that your Armor has taken beyond the Armor icon and will let you know if it’s time to seek out a replacement.
Audio Adjustments
We saw several reports of footsteps sounding louder or quieter than expected, and not always being able to tell the direction enemies were coming from. Others reported an uneven balance of footstep volume between teammates and enemies. We’re on it. Improvements to how audio will work at launch include:

  • Sounds will be properly impacted by walls, floors, ceilings, and other objects in the world. This means enemies directly above or below the player should no longer sound louder than expected.
  • The volume of the cargo plane, punching, game countdown timers, and everything else you’ve brought to our attention (and many things you have not) will be reviewed in-depth as part of that process. The game has not yet had its final audio mix.
  • Teammates’ footsteps will be quieter compared to enemy footsteps.
  • The Awareness Perk will further reduce the loudness of the footsteps of your teammates.
  • All audio presets will be available at launch in the Options menu. Audio presets can make a big difference, and we offer many choices for those who play with headphones or surround sound.
Inventory & Item Management
On the first day of the Beta, the community almost unanimously asked for faster Item pickups. As a result, we made pickup speed as fast as possible while still protecting players from accidentally picking up an Item when attempting to reload.

Console players have asked for an option in Settings to allow them to tap a button to instantly pick up an Item. We like this idea a lot, and want to be sure we get it right and test it thoroughly.

The Quick Equip menu can be fantastic for making Inventory adjustments quickly, but could also get in the way of picking up Items, opening doors, or entering vehicles. We adjusted the Quick Equip menu so it automatically closes after a few seconds with no interactions. We are also looking into the feasibility of closing the Quick Equip menu if the player performs other actions such as firing a weapon, changing stance, starting a Sprint, etc.

We’ve already improved the proximity and height at which you can interact with Items on the ground so you don’t have to look down at that Item so precisely. It’s being tested now and is very likely to be in when the game comes out.

Last but not least, we are creating designs for other “quality of life” improvements to these very important game systems including, but not limited to:

  • Evaluating options to improve the Stash interface when looting enemies and containers on console.
  • Adding a new method to allow you to quickly remove all Attachments from a weapon.
  • Incorporating a way to swap Attachments between Weapons, if both Weapons support the same attachment.
Xbox One Performance
We saw some reports of screen tearing and choppiness when playing in Quads on Xbox One, and we’re investigating. There are two specific issues that we have pinpointed on Xbox One that will be fixed for launch:

  • Fix for issue where pressing the Xbox button would sometimes cause the player to lose controller input and have to restart.
  • Inviting friends to your party will work as expected (not only through the in-game Social menu).
Blackout Beta Stats:
And finally, we’ve got some fun Beta stats to share. While the (very unofficial) numbers, Mason, are still coming in across all platforms, we’ve poked through the data to find some our favorites to share:

  • Players eradicated 7.5 million Zombies. Don’t worry, there’s plenty more where those came from.
  • Squadmates were revived 26 million times. Thanks for being team players.
  • 3.3 billion Items were picked up. That’s “billion” with a B.
  • Over 64 million Stashes were spawned. That’s a lot of loot.
  • The longest Combat Axe kill distance was 213 meters, or about 698 feet. Well done!
  • Players managed to eliminate 123 people with a basketball. Is ball still life?
Most kills by an individual player:

  • Solos: 25
  • Duos: 29
  • Quads: 25
Most kills by a team:

  • Duos: 32
  • Quads: 38

@LaidtoRest_ZA Did you preorder through Takealot?

I bought a beta code for 60 bucks to play the betas

Anyone played this recently and can confirm there are SA servers for Blackout? I am intrigued, but the international latency is pretty infuriating on FPS games...

I played one round of Blackout yesterday at around 11:00 am with 40ms ping.

Average ping for me on Blackout is 30-40ms. Barely goes over that with 20/10 Fibre.

Whats the time to get into a game. When playing the beta I'd wait 15min+

Friday it was around 3-5 minutes, the game yesterday was maybe a minute.

Like I said in the other thread I think a big thing was not everyone can quickly just download 60GB, I think the coming weekend will be more accurate on how long we will always have to wait and then Black Friday and Christmas time the population should get another nice bump.

Thanks for the input everyone, I was wondering about the time to get a match as well actually. Hopefully it _does_ get better this coming weekend. I might be making a purchase before then.... .... ....

The Queuing times are really bad, i have played about 10 games in total waiting no less that 5-8 Minutes for the match to start with max 31 player, it most likely will get better as more people will buy it or finish the download.

I'm also quite disappointed in the numbers :(. Really think they should sell Blackout separately for like R300, but don't think they really care about MEA. But even though I bought the game mostly for Blackout I'm really enjoying TDM.

You'll see an increase from payday & December holidays that's for sure, but i'll continue to be a broken record, South Africa has a lot of talent to compete at a high level of a lot of games, so local custom games would be beneficial in a lot of titles, but local servers for casual play? In a BR? In game that costs R650-R1000? You will NEVER see those numbers required from South Africa.
MP is really good, control gm has a nice pace for cod. Zombies in general is awesome but hoping to see more as people figure out the Easter Egg

The problem with COD in general, and BO4 in particular, is the variety on offer. Just in MP you have a bazillion core modes, all splitting up the player base. Oh, and let's split it up some more with the same modes in hardcore!

Then zombies, more players peeling off.

And Blackout...poor, poor Blackout. Quads, duos, solos...

Then don't forget it's split over PC, PS4 and Xbox too.

You need a concurrent player base of like 10k at least to keep all of this humming. We just don't have that in SA.

Maybe when ISPs start using the South Atlantic Cable System we will see some more variety. That will at least give us decent access to South American and even the south of the US with reasonable-ish pings.

The splitting isn't the issue at all (Sure adds to it, but wont resolve it), you can put the entire ZA playerbase in blackout and you would struggle to maintain an enjoyable experience. Cross platform would provide a decent scene but then you'll just open another can of worms where console players moan about KB & M advantage and pc players moaning about consoles aim assistance.

Pubg will face the exact same issue, everyone moans about having to play EU, if they get local servers they will moan that wait times go through the roof. Best solution to anything ZA related is playing EU but the ability to host local custom games. Stay relevant with EU meta with a slight ping disadvantage & have the ability to compete within the community at low latency.

I think you need about 1000 people to keep BR queues at the lowest possible time. Below that is seems to get wonky (based on my experience with H1Z1).

How many people play Black Ops? On PS4, looking at my recently played with list, I see about 100 names or so? I assume there are at least a few hundred more in other lobbies I'm not part of, and hundreds more playing other modes. So if everyone on PS4 played only Blackout, I'd think it would be fine, I think we could get to about 1000.

But on other platforms? Who knows. I'm not even sure how many people play PUBG here.

It's all academic of course. We just don't have the numbers.

BTW on PC search for Quads not DUO's or Solo's. Had a 94 player lobby at one stage.

Also finding decent lobbies. Having servers crashes every now and again. But getting some decent games
