Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Blackout Battle Royale

My biggest worry...How in the hell are they going to keep things balanced?

They wont, 80 man quick scope lobbies lets go! Haven't looked into it but if they allow specialist abilities then RIP end game circles.

Well from what youtuber driftor was saying, specialist abilities are available in the battle royale mode. It’s also my biggest concern

The game uses P2P connection

How sure are you?

A doubt Blizzard will allow such a thing, especially with 50+ players also it doesnt make sense, if the host dies and leaves there will be host migration like Mw2, imagine that every few minutes .

I am positive. If you played the previous beta you would know this. Local pings.

Just doesnt make sense logically.

It makes perfect sense. No insane server costs for them. If there's players in your region you will find a game. Why not? They have host migration if the host times out or quits

Yeah dude that's true but that won't work for a br game I'm going pretty sure. They will have to use dedicated servers for this kind of heavy lifting.

p2p shits a brick in 10 man lobbies, let alone 80o_O They'll definitely have servers for Black Out, but regular GM's will probably be p2p as per usual, and it why world would they bother supplying local servers? 2 servers will be used for maybe a month then will be dead for the next 10 months while the same 20 players play TDM

Does anyone know if you receive the early access code if you order through takelot ect. instead of blizzard?

I ordered WW2 through takealot last year. They didn't send me a code, then I went on their Facebook and chatted with the person in charge of the page. They gave me the code in like 2 mins.

Anyone play this yet? It's really really good. Like, best BR out there good. It's crazy to have a BR game FINALLY be polished and perform well straight out of the box. No need to launch a special project to fix problems that should have been fixed a year before release.

Was pretty blown away.

There are dedicated South African servers for this fyi, just played in a local game.Though it will probably kick you to international if not enough players are around.

Doubt there are dedicated servers.

In fact, cod has never used p2p or it hasn't since cod 4+. People refer to it as p2p but cod has always been listen servers. Meaning traffic is routed through one host.

You also get listen-peer servers where multiple hosts peer amongst themselves.

Dude they are dedicated servers. The normal MP does use the system you mention, and I experienced host transfer several times during the beta.

But with Blackout this system just would never work. You have 80 people, so you have 1 host? And if he dies first and leaves? Everyone gets transferred to a new host? And on and on and on? Transferring to a host takes up to a minute, so it's not something that can happen instantly in the background. I seriously doubt as well whether you could even host traffic for 80 people in this manner.

I may be wrong but I think they may actually be using dedicated servers from what I've heard, and to be honest I'd imagine they would have to when hosting a BR... I tend to try stay off the COD hype train but things are definitely looking up for this one. PC has its own dev team and it's not just some shitty port, Blizzard don't generally home games with a limited lifespan, after playing the beta this is the first COD that I want to get another crack at in a long time!

Dont get me wrong though, there's still a lot of work they need to do to make this BR remotely competititve.

Do you have to buy the whole game to play the blackout beta?

My reply was more aimed at the p2p system that is currently available in cod games.

If there are dedicated servers for the new game, great. Will make a much smoother experience.
