I'm not so sure about Kingston but I know some manufacturers only honour the warranty if you provide both modules. So splitting the set might void it.

Manufacturers love to get out of warranties so they do try tactics like this.
Can't speak for all Ram kits but have confirmed with supplier that it's not a problem in this case.

Yeah I know what you mean .. Was more in the sense that it is a budget build based around an i7 6700 CPU.
You could go for a fancy motherboard which would naturally up the price
