What will work well when you're not on campus is also an AMD 4000 5000 6000 7000 U series APUs (no GPU) processors all run SOLIDWORKS quite respectably. I managed to run quite large assemblies with my old 4650u in a thin and light HP. And I got at least 5 hours of battery life still after 2 years of use.
