Hi all, i recently made the idiotic decision to try and update my lenovo thinkcentre bios with their windows app, well guess what, now i only have fan spin and 2 beeps...

are there perhaps any experts here that will be able to fix it for me by any chance? i know it can be done if you have the right tools and know how, its just a matter of finding the right person.

Please help, i would very much like to avoid having to buy another motherboard.... and yes i will pay for the repair naturally.

Reset the Cmos maybe ?
Unfortunately it also does not work, gives 2 different tiny beeps then shuts down when i do the clear cmos jumper thing but when i return the jumper to standard and fire it up its back to no visual signal and the 2 loud beeps

what motherboard is it exactly ?
Lenovo IH81M

I might have found a solution, in a lucky strike one of the tools i use for repairing airbag control modules at my company is fortunately also able to program the certain type of eeprom this motherboard uses so im busy dumping the file and then hopefully i can force feed the correct file back in.... holding thumbs.... will report back, its just a bit slow

if that doesn't work you can always try updating the bios via USB
Usb bios update would have been first prize but alas not even that would work they only have a iso that you can burn to a cd and then boot into the cd but the problem is i cant even boot into anything and also i dont have a cd rom hahaha, file busy writing now, hoping for the best...

File that came off was only zeros so think epprom was erased and thats where it ended before the new bios could be written back

It lives!!

Tapped out this morning at 4 after the 4th attempt that it did not want to accept the file

Woke up this morning with 4 hours of sleep in me, enough to motivate me to desolder the chip and program it on the bench, low and behold it wrote to the chip successfully!! Soldered it back on to the board and boom it works again

Now to to clean up this dump and sleep haha

Thanks for the assistance man

Ahahahaha thanks all

The dedication to repair that motherboard really came from me being stubborn, originally started out as a office pc then i started turning it into a beginner gaming rig for my wife but as always with these things the upgrades started snowballing to the point where only the motherboard and ram remained original and i just felt like if i have to buy a new mobo also then my whole build to turn a office pc into a gaming pc has been a giant failure and i could have judt kept the office pc as it was and built a new pc for the wife from scratch hahaha

So in short my refusal to admit defeat is what spurred me on 😂

nice, gg wp
