Hi. First post so howdie?

Bit of a techno retard. Would like guidance on earphones / muffs / plug-ins thingies. Need wireless that are as intelligent, portable & versatile as possible.

To be used: Car with phone (phone calls overriding music and GPS turn by turn instructions, etc); watching PS3/DroidTV/telly in bed when girlfriend is trying to sleep; PS3 games (needs mic). Need reasonable mic & sound quality for my old & loud diesel Land Rover (tired of winding up the window and my old Parrot BT isn't up for it).

Again, please excuse my ignorance in this regard. But your thoughts regarding the above would be most helpful.

Looks nice but I'd prefer R1k to R1.5k. Anything in that price range?

How would your car sound system integrate with a simple headset?
You might be asking a bit much if you want your brick in the wind to give a good conversation with an open window. So you might be better off getting a good head-unit that pairs via bluetooth.

That said - on the bike I use what is basically a headset that pairs with your phone. You get similar transceivers that you can plug into a compatible headset, like the one that comes with your phone for instance. Personally I hate in-ear headphones though as that blocks out the noise from the world around you.

That doesn't solve your in-the-bed problem though...

Aging car, so aging car sound system. No integrated BT, or even a head phone jack. CD shuttle toast too. Tired of local radio and struggling with phone calls.

Smart phone with MP3s on it, GPS etc doesn't help if you can't hear it over the diesel drone.

Need fix for above as well as for playing games and watching my telly. That's why I thought a versatile wireless head set of sorts would resolve.

The big problem with wireless headsets is that you purely get what you pay for. If you want good battery life, lightweight construction and sound quality, you get what you pay for. R1,000 is, in my opinion, too little for a good wireless headset. R1,500 is where the cheapest ones come in that might be worth buying, but you're really going to shine if you stretch your budget.

The review isn't too positive. Thanks but sorry.

How about a cheaper gaming headset for telly/gaming like the CM Storm Ceres 300 (I have a pair, it's really good for the price) and then just a cheaper wireless pair for the car?

Tks BlackViper4 but that headset isn't wireless. That means I'd have to climb out of bed and sit on the floor to watch telly 😉. Thanks anyway.
