Hi all, I'm looking to buy a laptop gpu. I have an alienware 17 R1 with a gtx 860m that has recently blown and am now unable to use, does anyone know of anywhere I could purchase a laptop gpu (I stay in Durban) or have one I could purchase? I know this is an odd request and that laptop Graphics cards are not the easiest to come by but I have no idea where else to look.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, TIA!

Ebay is your best bet.
I hear you, however I don't know how reliable ebay is as I've never bought from there before and I've heard of people getting scammed, have you ever shopped there before?

What would I be looking for?
Same thing you look for on a Carbonite user's profile, or a BidOrBuy profile or any other online marketplace. Number of positive deals, recent deal ratings, etc. etc.

Ebay also has a money back guarantee policy which you can read more about.

Alright thank you, just making sure, appreciate the advice

You sure its just the GPU?
I believe so, laptop runs fine nothing else has given me problems, the pins on the socket are all intact and don't have any damage. I'm assuming it's just the gpu and nothing else, I can't really check if it's the socket because I don't have another card

eBay is safe - you've got quite lekker "buyer protection" on there and they ship quite quickly
I had the el-cheapo Chinese purchases and they all came here within 2-3 weeks with Fastway which uses Buffalo, so they even pay for import duties and all that kak on your behalf

Go for it, if you can ascertain whether it is the GPU or not

Is this one of the models that work with the graphic amplifier I've seen a few on this forum recently? I'm just assuming your battery is already dead and you always use it plugged in. Also assuming the amplifier would work with dead onboard, and that's all that is wrong.
