BI / Data Analyst - Randburg

One of our big clients is looking for a data analyst/engineer to assist with implementing the company's data strategy.

The current landscape consists of pipelines to ship on-prem data into Azure Data lake with various ETL processes in play.
The end goal is to create usable dashboards, create links between the various data sources to help identify customers and their behaviours, find usable/action insights as and when required.

A lot of the build to ingest data from various sources has already been done so it's mostly about pulling reports and looking for very specific patterns in the data to answer specific questions.

There is an opportunity for some remote work but our client does prefer if you were on-site to liaise with the various teams whose data you'll be working with as well as stakeholders who are interested in the outcomes.
A portion of the work would require presenting to senior members in the organization.

Our team is very familiar with the customer's systems but our team is not experienced in the data science/BI space.
We will definitely be able to support you with understanding the business and its processes and provide insights into rationale behind certain requests.

Reimbursement will be in accordance with proven experience. Customer is in somewhat of a rush to fill this

Hi,

Might be worth mentioning what tools they expect the person to use as some reporting tools have their own scripting language and you would probably want someone who is proficient in Power BI or Qlik or Tableau.

Hi, in what industry is the client? I am currently working in the retail industry. I am the sole data architect and BI Developer. I injest data from more that 40 retail branches, 8 distribution warehouses and 4 production warehouses. My BI tool is qlik sense enterprise. What tool does the client currently use? Thanks.

The focus here is working with customer interaction data across websites, apps, service desk, contact center etc.

I'm pretty certain its Power BI but I'll confirm shortly.

For added info, we have a small team on-site at the moment which we're looking to augment.

How entrenched are they in Power-BI?
Has a previous developer worked on any model/apps or is it a ground up development?
Do they only use Power-BI or some form of automated reporting such as excel/power query/SQL?

Very. It's a well-established company that's suffered a high turnover during ye good ol lockdown.

Our team has built the pipelines to push and transform data from sources into the Azure data lake. I imagine Power Query may be in use somewhere. Not my area of expertise so I cannot answer that definitely.

The focus now is on building out usable reports per business requirement. There's some work for bringing in new sources but that's few and far between.

Unfortunately I do not have that much experience in Power-BI itself. I was hopeing that they are not that entrenched and I can migrate them to QLIK and Nprinting if it was a ground up development.
