Hey guys, its time to get an SSD, what would you say is the most reliable drive out there?

Then you need to cut down on the 'most'.

I got one of Ajay's Liteons and it's a damn snappy drive. My important stuff isn't stored on it, so I'm not too concerned about reliability.
Thanks bud... Its either an ssd, or im thinking of sourcing a mSata m.2 drive as my board supports it. But what that is gonna cost I dont know and to get it 2nd hand, I also dont know.

Just do some research on mSata as I recall some complaints thats its been unstable on some motherboards. I recall guys losing their data due to mSata failures. Not sure if its a driver, hw or compatibility the root cause.

Crucial BX series is a good place to start for a SATA 3 drive, however the Intel and Samsung drives are legendary. Stay away from mSATA as the standard will soon be obsolete due to the M.2 standard taking preference and offering more bandwidth.

On the lower end ADATA / Kingtson and the like will suffice if you are using it purely to host your apps & OS. Everything else store on a hard drive or in the cloud or one those ultra secure USB drives.

It's strange to me that you ask about the most reliable drive. Even the 840 Evo with its 1st gen tlc nand will last longer than you'll need it to.
It's really only in a server environment that ssd lifespan/reliability becomes a concern.
In that case Samsung's Pro drives or the Intels are hard to beat.

In your position I would just wait for a good deal on a fairly new SATA3 drive to pop up on the forum and take it regardless of brand/model. They're all really similar.

Bud I ask because I read allot of BAD STUFF about OCZ drives... Apparently the RMA rste is 10% of all drives.. Thats bad! And they have high failure rates... Read this while doibg research on some drives... So it just made me think, what would be the better drive..

That was the OCZ of old...they have since been acquired by Toshiba and are now a subsidiary. Their products have improved due to improved validation that Toshiba puts their products through. Their past products do have issues but only a small percentage.

I've heard that the RMA rates for old OCZ are well above 10%. .

But Henniebrandweer just do yourself a favour and get one of the OEM Samsung, Intel or Liteon drives.
