Description of Bad Deal:

Hi, trying my best to keep this as short as possible.

I bought a screen and had it shipped to me. Upon arrival I noticed the condition is definitely not in the excellent condition as the seller stated. A number of scratches and a broken joystick button. I discussed this with TheViking_ZA and agreed that I’m still happy with the screen but that the condition was not as stated and we agreed that he will pay back R500. Which he did. So this is sorted.

I give a positive iTrader.

A week or 2 later I proceed to sell the screen. A guy on carbonite comes by and takes a look. He is happy but wants me to follow up on warranty. As on TheViking_ZA initial thread he says warranty works through the original seller.

So ok, I contact the original seller. He provides a link of his initial sale of this screen, the screen was sold without a warranty and is about 3 years old, as stated on the original seller’s thread. Me and the potential buyer agree to cancel the sale due to this. I then decide to ask TheViking_ZA for a refund.

I contacted TheViking_ZA via Carbonite (I deleted his number by this time), I was fairly unhappy and used harsh words which he got upset about. This happened the of 16th March, he did agree that he will refund within a week or 2. So ok;

After week 1 I msg him on the 25th of March to follow up on the refund, he said it will be around the 1st.

After week 2 I follow up again, no response from him and he has been online during this week.

After week 3, this is today (6 Apr). Sent a another msg, still no response.

Conclusion - TheViking_ZA lied. He knew very well there wasn’t a warranty on the screen and that it wasn’t 1 year old.

He blatantly lied on a sale thread about important information on a costly item and he is avoiding refunding me. He doesn’t even care to reply. At one stage I even told him “just talk to me if you can’t afford a refund now, we can work something out.”.

I want to reverse the iTrader and give him negative feedback, can I do this? Admin?

He will probably have some crappy excuse why he hasn't replied on my messages but whatever I don't care anymore. He deserves a negative iTrader. He intentionally gave false/misleading info on his sale thread. Others should be aware of this before dealing with him. What he did is unethical and deceptive.

A refund clearly isn't going to happen.
But thankfully a friend bought the screen and a refund is no longer needed.

First of all, let me just warn you about defamation of character.. I’ve asked you and warned you previously about how you speak to people. Have some respect. Go ahead and ask any member on here I’ve ever dealt with. They will only have good things too say. I don’t go around opening bad deal threads left right and centre just because I’m impatient. Go ahead and ask @SEXCZN I’ve been keeping a screen for him for a while now. Most people will consider it a waste of time. He’s been to my house (a complete stranger by the way) twice to look at the screen did I moan about it? No. In actual fact he can confirm that there was nothing wrong with the Asus screen. Before I sold it. I didn’t have the proof, as all photos I had was off the screen on and not off. It was your risk with shipment. I even went out my way to help you. What for? Hell I even arranged Insurance for shipment of my pc to Regicide.

I have been busy with work, I have not been on Carbonite. Had you phoned me I would have told you this. I found about this thread through another thread.

So, as for the damage on the screen, it was in excellent condition. I’m sorry the courier service scratched it and damaged the joystick. When I spoke to the original owner of the screen. He said he wasn’t sure about the warranty and that I should check with Rectron. I made the mistake of copy and pasting the data on the sale thread. Honest mistake. Which is why I agreed to give you a refund. Even though you only paid R6500 for a R14k screen.

None the less. I don’t have time to deal with immaturity. Admin please let me know what you want to do further?

Regards,

I did read the rules pertaining to bad deals, thank you. You know, I've been a member on the site since 2015 and I've done a bit more deals than you have. The people I don't have respect for are people who are trying to bullshit me.

Oh ok, the 144p quality photo you sent me the day I spoke to you about the "excellent condition" you can see the main scratch mark I was complaining about. And you can clearly see how your headphone stand (which you placed right in front of the screen) exactly lines up with the other scratches on the screen?? But, again this is not the main problem. This is the point were I started questioning your integrity. But fine we got this sorted out.

I have been busy with work, I have not been on Carbonite. Had you phoned me I would have told you this. I found about this thread through another thread.

I told you that I didn't have your number anymore? And don't tell me "I could have asked again". That is irrelevant. You were online numerous times the past few weeks and it is natural to assume that you read my msg's.
I am also busy at work, but still I had 2 mins everyday to send you follow up msg's to hear what is going on. Every time I sent a msg I checked your profile to see when last you were online. And you were online almost everyday if not more, so you should've seen my msg's. So again, you weren't bothered to reply on my msg's (clearly indicating you are trying to dodge me and the refund). I mean, it takes not even 60 seconds to send a msg to someone.

So, as for the damage on the screen, it was in excellent condition. I’m sorry the courier service scratched it and damaged the joystick.

Nope, you gave that screen +-7 strait layers of tightly wrapped bubble wrap packaging, so unless you poured sand into the wrapping before sending it off it couldn't have been the courier who scratched the panel the way it is scratched. Why don't you share the photo you sent me that day, then people can judge for themselves?

When I spoke to the original owner of the screen. He said he wasn’t sure about the warranty and that I should check with Rectron. I made the mistake of copy and pasting the data on the sale thread. Honest mistake.

Sure ok "honest mistake". So on the back of the "irregularities" with the condition story and you ignoring me with the refund what I am suppose to think? This isn't some R10 usb drive you are selling.

Which is why I agreed to give you a refund. Even though you only paid R6500 for a R14k screen.

I paid R7500 initially. How can you argue that a screen that is older than 3 years and without a warranty (not to mention its condition) is still worth the original purchase price?

Here is the chat history, and the problem I have.

Mar 16, 2019 reVolt: Great, I'll send my banking details to you again. Unfortunately I deleted the whatsapp chat a few days ago and thus no longer have your number. Once payment is made we can commence with shipping.

Mar 25, 2019 reVolt: Hi, just follow up. Do you have an expected date for the transfer yet?

Mar 25, 2019 TheViking_ZA: Hi bud, will be around the 1st bud

Mar 25, 2019 reVolt: Ok cool

Monday at 12:58 PM (1 Apr) reVolt: Hi, just following up on the transfer?

Wednesday at 7:39 PM (3 Apr) reVolt: Viking??..

Thursday at 9:10 AM (4 Apr) reVolt: You need to respond bro. If you are unable to do the refund at least just let me know, and we can work something out.

And then Yesterday (Saturday 6th Apr) I open this thread. That is almost 2 weeks in which you apparently were so busy at work that you could not send 1 msg to stay in touch? And Im guessing you still have my number, so you could've sent a whatsapp which is even quicker and easier?

This is quite a serious matter, when you don't reply and don't act on a refund on the date which you set out it kind of looks like your are not going to honor the refund.

@TheViking_ZA you sold the screen as 1 year old with warranty. It's 3 years old without warranty. Honest mistake, it happens, but in short you mis-presented an item to a buyer and he didn't get what was advertised. Just refund the guy and get your screen back, please.

I missed the part where the screen is already sold. Ignore. You can't refund him anymore. It does change things:

The new owner (the buddy) would either have been unhappy with the screen, meaning he won't take it, enabling reVolt to get a refund. However, he is happy enough to keep the screen, so a refund is out of the question. It also changes the Feedback rating thing for me. reVolt was happy with the initial solution of getting a partial refund. His friend was happy with buying the screen as is. The age and warranty would be an issue if it was broken, but it's not. I'm not sure what to continue with here. IMO reVolt can't give TheViking a bad rating because the person he sold the screen to is now unhappy with the screen. reVolt is in no way in a position to be unhappy anymore, because he doesn't have the screen anymore.

The way I see it this point is solved and done. If the screen packs up due to a warranty-fixable issue, that's another story.
