Deal Thread URL: [Trade] PowerColour Fighter RX6600 XT 8GB + plus cash for your 6700/6800

Seller (Trade):
@pennie
Buyer (Trade): @alcatraz5953

Description of Bad Deal:

18-04-2024
- I posted a trade thread looking to swap my 6600XT for a 6700/6800XT

18-04-2024
- Pennie Pm'd requesting how much I was willing to pay in, amount was agreed on.
- I advised that I would only ship the following Monday as I wanted to minimize down time and didnt want sit the weekend without a GPU. Both parties agreed
- Pennie requested that I pay the differnce up front to secure deal - payment made 18-04-2024

19-04-2024
- Courier booked to collect package from Pennie on 22-04-2024

22-04-2024
- No collection made by courier, after querying this with Pennie, he advised that he was having staff problem at his shop and would drop package off at courier before the end of the day
- At 17h47 I sent Pennie a message asking if package was delivered as the tracking hadnt updated, he advised that he had dropped it off but might not update till the morning (bullshit)

23-04-2024
- Tracking did not update, I contacted courier to check if package was delivered and that confirmed that Pennie was dropping it off as we speak
- Raised my concern with Pennie regarding the lie, apologized and says he did it because he didnt want any trouble

The above is all fairly irrelevant to the actual bad deal, but it is an indication of why I feel the way I do

24-04-2024

- Drove to Port Elizabeth to collect package as it was only scheduled to be delivered the 25th and couldnt really afford any more down time
- GPU was packaged in its original box in a TCG flyer bag (no bubblewrap - Pennie doesnt believe that a box needs to be protected as per his message to me)
- GPU installed later that day - tested out a game of Fifa and noticed temps were sitting between 93-97 degrees.
- Troubleshooted as best I could, notified Pennie of the issue. No fix found

25-04-2024
- Received video from Pennie showing benchmark and the GPU with fans spinning
- Pennie recommended I do BIOS update, I declined
- GPU was taken to our local PC store to test, they confirmed the fan controller on the PCB was dead
- Informed Pennie of the findings above - he advised that he needs to get the card back to him to warranty it because he got it from another guy and he needs to send it back to him to have it checked out
- Pennie then arranged courier collection to have to GPU delivered directly to GPUworx

30-04-2024
- Requested update, no update provided. Pennie advised he will let me know when he hears something

01-05-2024 (today)
- Requested update, no update provided. Pennie advised he will let me know when he hears something .

At this point my frustration had now gotten the better of me and I addressed my concerns with Pennie to which he now seems to want to paddle off the responsibility of following up myself with GPUworx to find out whats happening and implying that he is trying to help me with this as if he is doing me a favour.

I cant ask for my old GPU back because he seems to have sold it already here
I dont particularly want a repaired GPU, that was not the deal
I do not have a GPU and I am out of pocket
So what do I do??

If he sold your GPU already and you do not want a repaired unit. Either he needs to buy your old card back and reverse the deal or refund you an amount so you can then purchase another card.

Or offer a partial refund and you accept the repaired card and the possibility that it might act up or last years.

GpuWorx Knows his stuff but there is always risk once you repaired a card.

Just my 2c

Getting my old GPU back with the difference refund would be ideal - but I cant see that happening and will more than likely be a long drawn out process

Refund the value of the 6600xt and the difference I paid him or refund the value of what he was selling the 6700xt for before we traded and I buy another card - easiest

Partial refund and I accept the repaired card is right at the bottom of this list. This too will be drawn out and I could very easily end up having a working card for 2 days - if it can even be repaird

@pennie your input here is required.

Also, you stated the listed reason for that sale is "upgrade". But it's obviously not. I'm also aware you own a computer parts shop, but you stated you're not selling from the shop, but now it seems you are definitely selling and reselling goods. Am I incorrect in stating this?

Good Morning,

I don't do much resale of my items in my shop because I don't have reseller account. I have upgraded my card from 6600xt that I sold and the money I received from Kyle to buy 4060ti from Tech-Fever.

I also want to add, that "alcatraz5953" didn't say anything that he didn't want repaired GPU when I sent the courier to collect the GPU to be sent in for repairs. I sent him video of working GPU, In his best interest to collect the GPU and get it fixed.

@pennie I read above you have a video/proof of the card working BEFORE you sent it, is that correct?

@alcatraz5953 you saw the video of the card working when @pennie had it?

Yes, I got the video of the card working after I notified @pennie that the fans werent working. I however have absolutely no idea when that video was taken.

I cant for the life of me see how transporting the card could have damaged the fan contrioller. And if it did then it was because it was packaaged like my backside.

Up until when I opened this bad deal I was under the impression this card was being sent for warranty as per pennies messages to. It wasnt until I told Pennie on Wednesday last week that I wasnt happy with the way things are being handled that I it was brought to my attention that the card was sent to GPU worx for repairs.

Good Afternoon

The card was packaged in Original packaging the card came with, how was the card packaged like your backside?

The card is not under warranty as per ad, I merely said that I will make 100% sure with supplier if there is, there is no warranty, after that I said I'm collecting the card to be transported to GPU Worx to be repaired on my behalf, then you insinuated that you believe the card was there before for repairs.

I sent you the waybill with GPU Worx details on the waybill that its going in for repairs.

"brought to my attention that the card was sent to GPU worx for repairs."

I sent you voice note saying that the card is not under warranty and is going for repairs before I arranged collection.

I clearly misunderstood you about the warranty issue then as you kept mentioning the guy you got the card from or the guy you know or whatever. And yes I did insuate that I believe the card was with GPUworx and repaired before as that then appeared be the warranty you kept referring to..

WRT packaging - I have never received or sent a single package that wasnt at least bubblewrapped or put in another box to protect it during shipping. We are obviously going not going to agree on how things should be packaged here and I'm not going to carry on arguing about it.

An update on events

Received message today from pennie that GPU has been repaired and courier has been booked to deliver to me.

The fact of the matter remains though that I will now have a GPU thats been repaired, has no guarantee of working properly and is essentially worth nothing.

So mods and pennie, please tell me what to do. I feel incredibly hard done by, but if I am wrong or unreasonable, then so be and I will take this as school fees

Morning

I don't know what happened to the card in shipping or when the card was plugged in to the computer. I've taken it upon me to repair the card and be out of pocket. The warranty is with GPU Worx.

Hey,

It was taken on the 18th of April. I was benching the card.

My 2c, a greater degree of detail is needed regarding the warranty with GPUworx and how it comes to a manufacturer's warranty.
It's irrelevant, as the card was sold without warranty. It now has some form of warranty through GPUWorx, which is arguably a better position to be in than before.

@pennie just to clarify, did the card have a warranty with GPU worx or does it now after the card has been repaired have a warranty with GPU worx? This would put my mind significantly more at ease.

Card was delivered to my office yesterday, will test and confirm when I'm home the weekend

Fair enough, my point was more alluding to a replacement warranty versus a fix only warranty

I just wanna know what GPU Worx said the problem was what their fix entailed. Could be a simple component replacement, trace repair etc

Hi Dom, The warranty is on the repair work GPU Worx did on the card.

On the invoice is says replace Fan Logic, logical and Gate and Thermal Service.

Finally managed to get the card in last night to test, all seems to be working as it should. If GPU Worx has given a bit of warranty on their work, I am happy to call it a day on this
