any idea how easy it is to self install?

You would need to remove the glove box. Then the biggest hassle is to position the cables in such a way that the glove box seats properly again. This module sits on top of the cd player unit and is plug and play. As such the wiring harness is a bit big, but if you take your time and have the necessary tools (like long extensions on sockets etc.) and enough light it shouldn't be an issue.
