Item: Asus dual RTX 2070 8gig OC
Age: n/a
Price: R4500.00
Payment Method Accepted: EFT / Cash
Warranty: n/a
Warranty Holder: n/a
Packaging: Can package well for shipping
Condition: Artifacting only when going into windows. After windows automatically installs drivers artifacting is gone but the icons are large. also gives Code error 43 in device manager sometimes. Seems like a bios issue. Card has not been worked on yet. Some backplate screws missing will see if I can find some to fit but no IOshield / I can fit a different one I suppose as a replacement. otherwise physically in good condition.
Location: Mossel Bay
Reason: Don't know how to fix. will rather let it go to someone who do.
Shipping: Included
Collection: Sure
Link: DUAL-RTX2070-O8G|Graphics Cards|ASUS Global

Description of condition:

The GPU does the following:

Once GPU is being put in system for the 1st time, It is artifacting. after logging in to windows and waiting a while for the system to install the driver automatically, Once this is done there is no more artifacting. now the screen is clear but the icons and everything else is large on the screen, like the resolution is not right. I tried installing Nvidia drivers but icons remain large and so forth.

After drivers are installed and artifacts are gone. It shows code error 43 in device manager.

I have not tried to run anything in that state because I don't know what it will do to the card or if it is safe to do so. I also do not want to fiddle too much because I am not that technical when it comes to these kinds of issues.

And once drivers installed and you run heaven benchmark does it still not artifact?

Have not tried benchmarking yet as wouldn't think it would be possible or if it was, a good idea in that state.

Bump, Images added with price drop. Shipping now included nationwide! :)

I see some screws missing and also IO shield, you still have these?

I think I might have some of those back plate screws will have to check but I bought it without the IOshield

Shouldn't this be stated in the condition to begin with?

This has been sent in for repairs. Apparently just needs to be reballed and/or reflowed. Before closing - can anyone confirm this to be a viable solution to the issues mentioned?

It could potentially be a fix, as it essentially "fixes" any loose/crappy connections between the electronics, a very specialized fix though, you need skill and top-notch equipment to do so. It loosens and replaces some and resolidifies all/most of the solder on the board.

If that does not fix the issue though, then it might be with the components themselves, such as the silicone chip or controllers.

With the resolution issue, it sounds like it is not engaging properly and stays in a "basic" VGA type mode, such as when it displays the BIOS and such.

If the solder connections can be confirmed to be the issue and not the GPU or the memory chips or absolutely anything else on the card...

Thank you @Dw07u and @ThatGuyJD for your insight on the matter. The technician also mentioned some of what you had stated above. Should receive a detailed diagnosis from them by Monday but I feel more at ease now. Closing thread now hope everyone has a great day!
