I have an Asus B550-F (with WiFi), and every time I wake it up from hibernation / sleep I need to:

1) disable and re-enable the network interface via the Network Connections (Windows 10 64-bit v2004).
2) disconnect and re-connect the network cable

, in order to get the network connection working again.

I've updated to the BIOS v1804, and I see v2003 & v2006 beta are out (but no specific mention of LAN fixes). Should I maybe try one of these newer versions (anyone else solved their issue with them)?

I've also tried both the Asus recommended v1.0.1.4 driver, and the newer v1.0.1.8 from Intel.

Any ideas what to try next? (My previous X370 board with the Intel I211AT LAN didn't have these issues).

Should I just give up and get a separate Intel I211 NIC?

If you have tried all options and nothing works then the easiest (and cheapest) option would probably be to just set the PC to never sleep/hibernate.

Also, go in device manager and make sure the power saving option is not enabled.

1. Click the Start button and type "Device Manager" in the search bar. The Device Manager dialog launches. (Alternatively, select "Control Panel", then select "Device Manager.")

2. Click the small arrow next to "Network adapters." Click once on your adapter to highlight it. Right-click and select "Properties" from the context menu.

3. Click the "Power Management" tab. Deselect the check mark beside "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." Click the "OK" button.

cheap fix is a seperate PCIe NIC unless you need the 2.5Gbit port

100% the above is correct.

Unfortunately the intel i225v version 1 LAN had serious issues.

The quickest fix is to manually set the LAN speed to 1Gbs or 100 Mbs. There is also the need to change the frame size.

update ASUS has a firmware update tool to update only the LAN firmware.

There is a way force the new firmware. It is on the Asus web site. But it is a bit risky.

What router/network switch are you using?

Try these setting on the LAN

Energy efficient ethernet Off
Interrupt Moderation Rate Low
Receive buffers 1024
Transmit Buffers 1024

I do prefer to have the PC sleep / hibernate, just easier than to have to reload everything after a reboot (yes, I know, too many Chrome tabs 🤓)

I've done the disabling of the power saving options already, but thanks.

Yes, might have to go that route soon - e.g. any recommendation for a locally available 1 Gbps PCI-E Intel NIC, that doesn't have the default green colourway?

Ah thanks, I'll try manually setting it to 1 Gbps, and changing the frame size. Don't need 2.5 Gbps (not that my switch supports it).

I'll look for the Asus firmware update too.

I'm using a D-Link DGS-1008D 8-port gigabit switch. Will try those settings.
