Arma 2 Dayz Mod help

Howzit guys.

So arma 2 is on special (80% off for you that don't know) but im struggeling with the whole server story and different versions. SOOOO confusing!!

So I need some help. I see the latest version is 1.8.0.3 using dayz commander application, but now again I see most SA players are playing version 1.0.4.2? Is it just me or is that super old?Why play it?
I also take notice that there are more than one dayZ mod that you can add(Looking at the dayz commander app). for example the Epoch panthera mod.. that I am trying to download but its super slow through the commander app bleh!



Someone with some knowledge of these mods,versions Please help a brother out. Would be gladly appreciated because I feel lost.

Are people playing the mod or the stand alone these days, which is better?

i got both. SA is still very buggy so i decided to try the mod. Let me put it to you if the SA gets updated and I see what the mod is doing now. DUDEEEEEEE best game EVER on full release of SA!!!!!!!!

I mean killing the AI and stealing loot and running like hell from the rest? best move ever haha
