Not really a fair comparison if you ask me. It should be up against the old M135i which was...322hp and 450nM I think? Suddenly the 306/450 of the new car doesn't look too bad.

You can't tell me BMW isn't going to drop a new M140i in a year or so.

i read somewhere (will try to find where) that they aren`t intending on doing a 140 this time around.

They aren't.
With the way the EU Fuel Regulations/ Fuel Directive is going, I doubt we'll ever see another one.

It's not only performance though. The new car is sooooo ugly...Damn.
Also FWD biased....The one thing that made the BMW special was the performance and rear/X drive systems.

Mnyeah I wouldn't take that to the bank. I doubt there'll be another 6cyl 1 series but I fully expect to see a 350hp 1 series in 2020.

I'll never forget reading Jaguar's press release about the X Type when it first launched. They went on and on about how it would never, ever have a four cylinder motor or a diesel version because they were re-establishing themselves as a luxury brand. A year later we had a four cylinder diesel.

They'll say whatever they need to in order to sell what's available today. Just ask anyone who bought a 328i in 2000.

no it is a fair comparison ... the m135i old one was replaced by the m140i ... they never existed side by side ... so one would expect the new m135i to be better in every respect ...

Well that sucked, not a fan of the new look and that colour makes me feel like its a Volvo whatchamacallit.
BMW 6cy is the way to go, that sound is so good!
