It is ridiculous. Held of 3 teams in one tiny town with a mastiff and prowler with the hop up. Crazy combo... Spray them first and then take there heads off with the mastiff

Na we won't, and if we do it will be like the battlefield v servers. All nice and peachy then the oak vacuuming the floors unplugs the server and everything goes to shit :/

Dont want local servers, this game is coded so well we dont need them and all that it will do is make the player base smaller and we will need to wait longer for games so i hope we dont get

There is a thread started on the Apex Legends subreddit asking for support for a African server (petition, unlikely to do anything).

In there it was pointed out that the game runs on cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP) which does not have a presence in South Africa. However, Respawn do also have servers through Multiplay which does apparently have hardware in South Africa.

That being said, it depends how much it costs for Respawn to host through Multiplay. If we have any of the other cloud services in South Africa, then Respawn don't need to do much.

That said, it also depends what the local scene is like. People point out that Black Out mode in Black Ops 4 had local servers but they were dead on arrival as no one queued for them and are saying the same will happen to Apex Legends. But as Apex Legends is free, there might be enough players to make it viable.

Side-note, while I don't think the online petition will do anything (they rarely do), I do not think asking the entire subreddit with users from around the world to show that you have a local player base in Africa will do anything. Really, it might even signal to Respawn that the local scene is so small that we need help from outside to even have our voices heard.

Speaking of skins, the way Respawn are handling the valentines cosmetics in terms of pricing is very poor. You need 1100 coins for the weapon skin or frame, meaning it's 2200 for both. But you can only purchase coins in either 1000, 2150 or 4350 packs. So you can't get a single item with the 1000 pack and you can't get both with the 2150 pack.

That's nice and all, but the game needs to make an income otherwise it will die. And not just player wise, if the game isn't generating money then they switch of all the servers.

So it's in everyone's best interest to have fair pricing. As it currently stands, it's trying to cater to whales and no one else.

The game is most likely doing really well financially, but this sort of pricing reeks of short term gains instead of long term investment. Overprice to cash in on the whales before they move on, then kill the game once profit is no longer being made.

I assure you, they're killing it with cosmetics. I've spent R500 and I know some of my friends have spent well over R2000.
I've also seen some of the bigger streamers and Youtubers drop $1000 on apex packs.

I have better things to do with that cash than buying in game cosmetics BUT each to their own. It is a free game and yes somehow they need to make a buck or 2.
