Hi guys, I have a 4th gen Alienware 17 R2 and last week I tried to do a BIOS update, I have the Dell Support Assistant program which picks up my laptop automatically and then shows me all the correct drivers for it, downloaded the BIOS update and ran it.
The fans started to spin full speed as it began and it only reached 9% and stood there for hours until it just went to black screen....I couldn't even switch it off, had to wait till the battery drained.
Now it switches on and keyboard lights come on but screen stays black. Wont do anything else. Think they call this stage "Bricked" and its quite common.
I tried to reset the CMOS by shorting the 2 copper pins under the ram chips but still nothing. The laptop is out of warranty so cant contact Dell.
Does anyone know who is certified to work on Dell laptops that can fix this or someone that can definitely fix it that has done something like this before as i'm clueless.
Thanks in advance
