[Note: this isn't my first time on carbonite, nor my first account on here.]

As the title implies, I'm having a bit of trouble deciding on what I should do here.
I am using the desktop daily, but loadshedding has basically brought my motivation to use it to basically nothing.
I often visit family, and I'd just like to move around. With all that, I'm financially broke.

(simplified/shortened) Specs of the combo in question:
-> Tower:
> Processor: Intel Core i3-2100 - 2 Cores, 4 Threads @ 3.1Ghz, no Boost
> Memory: 12GB dual channel DDR3 @ 1333MHz - 8+4GB modules
> Graphics: (Palit) GeForce GT 710 - 2GB DDR3
> Storage: 64GB ADATA SSD + 320GB Hitachi HDD @ 5400RPM
> Case: Thermaltake - Unknown model
> Extra: Samsung Super WriteMaster DVD Drive, and a GreenPower external 2.5" & 3.5" HDD enclosure
-> Monitor:
> Brand & Model: Dell SE2219H
> Panel Type: 21.5" IPS LED
> Panel Info: 1920x1080 @ 60Hz
> Ports: 1x HDMI 1.4 - 1x VGA (D-Sub)

One major issue that I've not been able to fix, is the built-in realtek audio card/chip on the intel motherboard, is dead.
Therefore I have an HDMI to VGA and 3.5mm audio converter/splitter, and (did not hard)wired the audio jack to the front audio out jack on the PC case.

Additional info of whatever laptop that might end up going my way, that might help:
> Item Wanted: a Laptop of any kind, but with performance that is equal, or better than my desktop.
> Packaging Essential: At least neatly packaged in some sort of box, with packing material.
> Desired Age: anything from the last decade and a bit more.
> Location: Any, but preferred pretoria east, near menlyn if pick-ups are available.
> Willing to accept a shipped item: Yes, with postnet.
> Ballpark/Budget Amount: Basically nothing, as I am financially broke. I only have enough for when there's shipment involved.

Sho with the specs you've got above I'd say you'd appreciate any Ryzen U processor (APU) from 3000 series and newer. If you're willing to wait a bit the R5 3500u for R3.5k+- or R5 4500u for R4.5k+-. They're great for efficiency, win 11 and have much much better built in (iGPU) graphics compared to the intel counter parts. I've gotten ones for family and they love them.

I- I don't have another account...

I deleted the other one somewhere between Q4 2022 and Q1 2023, because I wasn't using it, plus I was stupid of making my username, my legal name, and surname.
Hmm, fair enough I guess.

If I were you I'd still have rather created a support ticket to un-delete it and have the name changed. You can probably still ask for the old and new accounts to be merged so your deal history etc. carries over.

But I'm not a mod, so 🤷‍♂️

I can merge your old account into this one. (I found it)

Let me know if you want that.

yeah, that'd be nice, but how'd you find my old account? I used a different email to create this one.

I didn't even know mobile ryzen 3000 apu's existed... I'll look into that.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, that the laptop shouldn't include a discrete Nvidia GPU, since I use GNU/Linux, instead of windows.

What was your previous account(s) btw?

There are legitmate reasons to have new accounts btw, but its rare

To be brutally honest with you, even if I gave the username (which I can't entirely remember, but it was something to do with my legal name)
it's basically empty. I think I tried selling this same desktop, and my xbox one on that account.

Well, its now on this account.

you mean IP Addresses, cookies, and (possibly) fingerprinting... totally remembered those exist.

(though, I delete most cookies, and I have CanvasBlocker)

Thx!

I am a bit scared of what I might've said or done in the past... so I might have to clean up

doubt that i'll anger 'em. but I guess I have, since I've failed to wipe most of the things I did off the internet.

also, apologies for all the smacktalk and bothering, but the discord account that I connected to my old account, has long since been deleted... is it possible for you to un-link it, please?

OK, so first issue. Your desktop is on the lowest end of the gaming spectrum.
That will make it super super hard to get rid of for any financial gain. The reason for that is simply that for only a few buck more, you can get a much better system. So selling/trading will be hard.

So you might need to think about buying and selling the desktop for whatever you can.

As @th33machin3 has stated, pretty much anything with a modern Ryzen APU will outperform your existing machine. So look at what you can find in that range.

yeah, sadly that is the main issue (I didn't want to mention it, because I knew this would not end up well), but i guess that I'll just not sell this, and just save up whatever I can.
