So I was wondering if anyone knows what thickness thermal pads I can use to replace the dry putty on my gpu memory chips?

The hotspots are quite high and I want to replace the paste and pads at the same time, can someone maybe suggest some pads from takealot?

I have thermal grizzly kryonaut paste. Just need new pads, i can see mine is all dry and brittle.

I have a XFX 7900xtx speedster merc

Thanks!

Maybe try asking wootware for the thickness, I see conflicting info online regarding the size.

Also woot like to help out, so might even bless you with pads

I remember there is a website online made specifically for thermal pad thickness for like 80 percent of all GPU's, need to find it

I had a look now. Conflicting pad information on these cards, but I requested XFX to provide the dimensions, if possible. I will let you know once they get back to me.

Thank you so much, that would be ideal. I have ordered 1mm for now, will test it tonight and revert back to you.

I haven't heard back from them, but based on a video that I saw, I estimated the thickness of the pads:

VRAM 0.75mm (This is based on reports that 0.5mm was too thin and 1mm too thick. It is also the same thickness as many other XFX cards on the memory)
VRM and Mosfets 1.5mm-1.75mm (1.75mm is mentioned on some forums)
Small green pad 2mm
Not sure about the other small pad next to the green one, as it looks like it is recessed.

I haven't personally worked on any of these, so it's just an estimation, but I hope it helps. However, I will still send you the info when XFX provides it.

Omg the legend @mjclaas !!

While you here what's the best thickness for Strix 3060ti?

And if you have a reference 7900XTX you will use 1.5mm pads to replace the thermal putty. and always tighten core first. then the rest of the screws.

From memory:

VRAM should be 2mm in the front, rear 2.5-3mm
VRM and Mosfets a mix of 1mm and 1.5mm in the front (The chokes may be thicker). Can't remember the back, but I think also between 2mm and 3mm

Update. 1mm is not good... I think it's too thick, I'm so over spending money on this shit now. Lol...
