Hi guys

No sure if there is any South African players that play 7 Days to Die over here?

if you not sure what 7 Days to Die is mash up between Fallout 3, Minecraft and The Walking Dead. Its personally one of the greatest games I have ever played and addictive as hell, no need to worry its no one of those Minecraft clone games.

To give you a good idea what it is about it is a Voxel-based sandbox, survival, horde, crafting, tower defense, FPS and RPG. This game is developed by an indie company.

Its currently in alpha phase at the moment but it is pretty solid for a game still in such an early stage. Therefore some game mechanics and features still need to be implemented but the Developers, namely The Fun Pimps, are very active on the forums and listen to the players.

Check out 7 Days to Die | The Survival Horde Crafting Game if you wanna check out more. Would be great for some more SA players as they are few and far between.

Looks interesting. I'll give it a go. Is this game made to play Co-op?

Also, do I have to get it through Greenlight on Steam?

It is co-op and LANable (Its great that is LANable cause you can't find anymore LANable games sadly as it becoming obsolete)

Nope you can buy it through the 7 days to die main site and on steam. I don't have steam either.

See you finally joined the CUD club BUD! Yes 7 days to die needs way more SA players :) Going to buy it after my bonus :p

Another game I am looking forward to is No Mans Sky. Looks like its going to be way better than any other indie or executive MMO out there.

Whats up GhoztZa yeah finally joined the forum been wanting too for a while now. (You kinda made me relapse so everything I buy is because of you kick starting my CUD lol)

For the last few months you have said you gonna buy it, hopefully this time you do!

However 7 Days to Die is pretty solid and its a zombie apocalypse enthusiast's dream game. I have been hooked for quite a while.

Furthermore don't take the name of this title literately as you can live way past 7 days. When you die you respawn again at your spawn point (i.e bed)

I've seen a few vids of this on Youtube, looks insanely addictive and lots of fun. Might get it soon as well so there will be one more SA player !

Glad to hear that :D

The game goes around $35.00 which is around (R350.00 +/-) however the price is subject to fluctuations due the exchange rate. There are other packages such as the 25$ beta release and the 15$ Final release packages however if you pay for the beta release now you will not get the game until the beta version is release and the same applies to final game release.

So I hope to see you guys in game one day.

Sorry drop in connectivity and duplicated my response. <Face palm>

Do you work for these guys or something? lol. game looks cool so might get it next year once my salary stabilizes(unpaid leave etc). are there local servers? can it be played on lan? how many players locally so far and how many overall?

Lol no I don't work for them. My job is rather tedious and boring to that of a game developer. I'm just a big indie gamer and like to support indie game developers as I'm sick of the generic titles with a big 2,3 or 4 behind it EA is the worst at this and they lack innovation. However this is a great to support as I have spent hours jamming online and single player.

They started it on kickstarter.com their goal was to raise $200,000.00 to design the game however due to the style of play and so many people wanting this game the raised $500,000.00 that's not including sales after the kickstarter campaign closed. So if I had to estimate they have raised $700,000.00 this far. (I cannot confirm this as this is an estimation)

Unfortunately there are no local servers at the moment as I mentioned before there is not a very big South African player base at the moment there is probably +/- 4-6 that I know of (Including myself)

The game can be played LAN the development team confirmed this to me personally. (Have not LANned it yet cause no one has it and no one LANs anymore)

I may have to get back to you on the overall amount of player on a LAN network as I will have a look into it when I return however if I am correct it is 32 max on LAN and online.

I play this game online all the time and the quality of the online gaming is great even though there is no SA servers at this point in time.

But guys bare in mind this game is currently in alpha stage and many game mechanics still need to be implemented. To those of you who are not sure about what an alpha game is it is a game that has not been completed yet therefore you can expect bugs and other anomalies whilst playing the game.

However one of The Fun Pimp staff members is a South African. :p

Sorry for all the info but I have been following the development of this game quite closely and have spoken to the development team a lot so I do wish to see this game do well. Kinda an old habit as Gh0ztZA used to own a gaming website together.

That's great news Justin001 and the download of this game is only about 354MB +/-.

The video that Gh0ztZA linked is actually the older one and was ordered to take down due to a copyright infringement. As one of the zombies models are from another game called Killing Floor, developed and published by Tripwire Interactive, which is another game sold on steam. If you wanna view the new one please view it on http://7daystodie.com/

Unity, which is the game engine used for 7 Days to Die, accidentally sold The Fun Pimps a zombie model which was used for Killing Floor. After been confronted by Tripwire Interactive's attorney The Fun Pimps changed their model. The model used was for the Feral Walker which was identical to the Clot Zombie found in Killing Floor.

Furthermore I would just like to bring to the attention of potential players that the zombies posses some sort of clairvoyance resulting in them magically knowing exactly where the player is, this is not intended and The Fun Pimps are aware of this, however they are still busy developing the path finding and A.I. In the Alpha 5 release a stealth system will be implemented so the zombies will lose there clairvoyant abilities upon Alpha 5. 7 Day to Die is currently in version Alpha v4.1 and the Alpha 5 is scheduled to be released soon however no date has been confirmed as of yet.The game is still very enjoyable even with the "psychic" zombies.

Please note that the video is more or less what the end result will resemble. Some features displayed in the video have not been implemented as of yet. Some other interesting facts they intend to implement vehicles, random generated maps, a story line and more.

This game also features other modes such as Death Match (PVP) , Zombie Horde mode (Players have to defend the fort against waves of enemies and of course Survival (Kill, hunt, farm, build, explore and survive).

Unfortunately Alpha 5 was a small quick fix update.

So I assume the next update might have the stealth system implemented.

The game is also currently on special until the 2nd of January 2014 for $29.75 through steam compared to its usual price of $35.00.

Why did you have to mention this special....(need link)
so zombies can still smell you from wherever?

Im referring to this

Zombies will use their clairvoyance once you are within a certain range, if you are in the woods with no zombies near by, they will not start coming for you from miles away.

If you are behind a wall and there are zombies a bit far away on the other side, then they will use their clairvoyance ability.

@ Gh0ztZA

Thanks for replying on this. Was so busy during the holiday didn't even touch a PC

Its quite odd with the clairvoyant zombie. As I have played the game more and the zombies in some cases seem lose their psychic abilities and in some cases they know exactly where you are. I think with the small updates the developers are slowly releasing the path finding codeof the zombies in small batches. So their clairvoyance isn't as bad as it was a few versions back.

For example:

When I built and underground shelter, in the v1.1a alpha version of the game, the zombies would run directly above me and begin digging towards me. Eventually burrowing in my bunker, over whelming me as I had no where to run and killing me with ease.

Now we sitting on v5.0 alpha and the zombies no longer burrow down into my bunker and now wonder aimlessly above me as if I was not there. But in some cases if you build a bunker or reside in a house above ground then they seem to know exactly where you are.

But this will soon be fixed and cant wait for it so I can start jamming 7 Days to Die again.

P.S SUPER JEALOUS about the XFX R9 280 that you have... Made me tear up over here.

Well lemme know when you get it perhaps when you get it you can join my 2 man private server and I can show you how to jam it. But if you're Minecraft veteran it will come by very easy to you and you will be able to jam it on your lonesome with no problems.

Thanks. Will probably need the help lol. I know how to survive in minecraft but never learned all the traps/circuits etc
Does 7dtd increase difficulty if your "base" gets to the point were zombies cannot enter? either by increasing zombie amount or strength or something?

Trust me its not that bad but there is no circuitry involved as of yet. I have seen people mention it among themselves of circuitry been implemented however nothing officially has been stated by the development team themselves.

Well as far as I can tell not yet. But zombie hordes seem to get bigger the longer you survive. You get special zombies that climb over walls and puke acid onto your walls, so you constantly repairing your base, usually there is one way or another they will get into your base. There is ways to make impenetrably designs but I usually stray away from such.

But the game is still in alpha phase and they still have LOADS to implement. So at the moment you can say the game is a lil broken in some aspects (That's what one can expect from an alpha version game) but they doing a good job at fixing them up.
