So I have the following setup -

- ASUS B450i - ITX
- AMD Ryzen 7 5800x (non 3d)
- Trident Z 3200mhz RGB RAM 2x 16gb
- Samsung Evo 1tb nvme
- Coolermaster NR200p Max Case with 280mm cooler and 850w power supply
- PowerColor Red Devil 6800xt
- Monitor is 27inch Samsung 144hz 1080p

*Thermal paste used - Corsair TM30
*Using the vented side panel and not the glass panel
*Radiator is top mounted and sucking air from the case and exhausting it
*I have 1x 140mm fan at the bottom pulling fresh air into the case
*Latest bios updated

So when I boot into windows my temps rocket to 78 degrees then gradually come down... Idle is about 55 degrees, playing warzone the temps go as high as 80 - 82 degrees and doing cinebench it peaks at 90 degrees.

My AIO pump is set to 100% all the time and I have my fans on a custom curve but it doesn't really make a difference.

I have tried using CTR2.1 to do a mild overclock and undervolt but I don't get the results I want.

In bios I have the memory set to 3200mhz

The issue I am facing is - 1. The temps don't seem right to me and 2. I don't get consistent performance in cinebench and in warzone (dmz), my frames fluctuate a lot...

Any suggestions??

Have you tried remounting the cooler? Could just be a bad mount giving you higher temps, leading to throttling.

From what I read on the 5800x, it's normal to idle around that much.
My 5800x is air cooled, idles around 60 degrees. :(
And that is with the side panel off.

Those temps don't look too high though. The 8-core Ryzen chips can get hot. The spiking behaviour you mention at startup is normal, people complain about it all the time but all the Ryzen CPUs do it.

And if you've got the rad as exhaust, all the hot air from the GPU is going through the rad, so your CPU cooling isn't optimal.

In HWINFO one of the rows is for CPU thermal throttling. I think even at 90deg you're not throttling but worth checking in HWINFO.

I don't think you need to worry about those temps unless they're throttling and slowing your CPU down.

Frame choppiness in Warzone is an issue people complain about off and on especially when there's an update to the game. Much more likely to be an issue with the game than your CPU unless it's happening in other games.

I used to have the same CPU with a X570 motherboard, I was able to undervolt it easily.. Do you know how to do it with a B450??
Shoudl eb same, set cpu vcore aorudn 1.26v and all cores to 4.3ghz

This is solid info! If I turn the fans around to intake my CPU temps drop by about 8 - 10 degrees but my GPU gets a little toastie.. which would you prioritize in terms of cooling? CPU or GPU?

Launch day cpu (B0) or stepping B2?

Launch day B0 chips run hot, but not so much on the revision as when I had the B2 chip my boot temps were 35-40 on idle with a D12L air cooler. Both versions will reach 75-85 average on game loads with typical air/water cooling, the custom cooling solutions could get lower.

GPU. The GPU boost algorithm is much more sensitive to temp changes, and has a much more direct impact on your frame rate. Even a few deg change can drop frames.

The CPU will be fine as long as it's not throttling.

Just to add on what the others have already said

Make sure your chipset drivers are up to date, this dropped mine by roughly 10C on average, temps are still high to 47-55 idle high 70s on load hitting 80 sometimes on a 360 Rad.

Update BIOS also if possible.

All my cores boost fine, and also room temp makes a massive difference so keep that in mind since it is summer.
