Recently built a new build with a 5600x and H100i Elite Capellix. AIO is top mounted in a Corsair 4000X case.
Temperatures seem a bit high too me idling around 45-50deg, ingame ~70-75deg.
It doesn't seem to do better than the stock cooler temps according to what I see online. Any advice or anyone with a 5600x - is this normal?

Is it OC'd?
Ambient temps in the room?
Idle might be a bit high but Load temps might still be normal.

It's very normal. Zen 3 gets a bit warm. Maybe check if you have PBO2 in your BIOS and follow the undervolt guide.

If you have more thermal paste also check your mount, or remount the cooler. I've built a couple of AM4 systems with corsair coolers and the mounting mechanism doesn't always seem to spread the pressure evenly. I've had one build in particular where only one half of the CPU had paste on it and the rest never made contact

5600X under load with a 240mm LCS hits around 60deg according to this: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X review

It's not thaaaat high... What are the H100i's coolant temps when under load? Have you tried experimenting with different fan/pump profiles?

I`d say those are high temps, nothing dangerous by any means but sub-par for the combo. Have the same chip and a Lian Li Galahad 240mm AIO and I idle at 31-33c and in game 55-58c even on hot days. AIO is front mounted so there's a little assistance there and the case is a Phanteks P400A.

What's your airflow configuration?

Thanks I will have a look into this, the mount had pre applied paste and I had some slight difficulty mounting it.

Just so that you have another reference point, I also have 5600x with an inWin SR24 front mounted in a Corsair Air240 case. Current ambient is around 21c and I'm idling at 33c average over a few minutes.

In December (when it was hotter, ambient was high 20's to low 30's) the average CPU temp was 58c after 20min of Prime95, peaking at 67c.

What is your power plan set to in Windows?

Try setting it to power saver and see what happens?

Three front intake fans that came with the 4000x and top amounted AIO as exhaust

Well mystery solved. You're exhausting the hot air from your GPU venting in the case through the radiator.

Either
- Change the radiator to front intake which will increase the GPU temps instead
- Undervolt your CPU
- Change your case for something with an extra exhaust fan on the rear and at the top (because all the hot air is being forced out through your radiator at the top)
- Or live with it

Edit : I'd also recommend changing the paste to something with higher conductivity, like the CoolerMaster MasterGel Maker or Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut.

I agree with the above, but I would add one step first - check the coolant temp. If it is low (below say 25deg) then it might be a bad mount and re-mounting it would help. If it is higher than that, then you might have luck increasing the fan and pump speeds in iCUE. Either way, trying a re-mount is not a bad idea as it costs nothing but thermal paste and time.

Thanks, I would understand the GPU impacting the temperatures under load but it doesn't seem to explain why its almost +10 deg on idle compared to similar setups or basically same temps as a stock cooler.

Will look into the changing thermal paste remounting and your other suggestions.

Coolant at~40deg idling in icue. on quiet profile.

It was on balanced. Changing it to power saver actually dropped the temps by almost 10 deg. What does this mean?

I have a Ryzen 5900x and seeing similar behavior.

I can idle at 33 deg on Power Saver but kicks up to mid 40 deg on Balanced. There are know issues with AMD power plans and voltages causing this behavior.

If your temps had not dropped when you changed to power saver I would be very concerned but I think your CPU is fine, just need to take the advice from the others above and try to reduce temps using the methods above.

Based on the high temp of the coolant I would probably say you can rule out a bad mount. You can try setting the profile of the fan and pump higher, that may help, but obviously it will be louder.

You can undervolt your CPU for a boost in performance and a drop in temps as per this thread: For Ryzen 5000 Users - Undervolting = Win | Tech Other

Ran cinebench underload and saw 63 degree under load under default settings, which is roughly 13 degrees above idle temps. Under load temp seems fine its just my idle temps are quite temperamental sometimes mid 50s when I am just browsing.

You find the temps spike up and down while doing light tasks, right? This is pretty normal with Ryzen. It's not an indication of something wrong.

I'd still try the undervolting thing, see how that helps.
