Prices are dropping for the new cards so I'd just buy that if I wanted to spend more ;)

FYI
--------

Good Day

Why not just buy new? On wootware you can get a brand new one for R14999.
So just R1500 over what you want to spend and then you get a brand new unmolested card with full warranty.
As you said, prices are dropping.

To be fair the card can only be like 10 months old as I think it was released mid 2021 so why not get a used card for 10% cheaper if someone is selling, it is a good deal for both parties. R1500 is R1500

On the other hand, the 30 series cards are becoming more renowned for failures and rma's. That extra 10 months could mean the difference between a rma or paying for a new card again and most second hand cards are mined stukkend. I personaly would only pay 50 to 60% of retail prices for second hand as you don't know what you getting on the second hand market. Just my 10c

I get what you are saying but one will never get a current gen card or even a card in warranty for 50 - 60% of retail prices. I get that it is only what you would pay but you might as well say that you would never buy second hand.

You are correct on that point, but that also comes down to miners trying to recoup initial investment. wait another month or 2 and the prices will drop even more or just wait for the 40 series if it is possible

Firstly I think it's important to note that no miner is going to sell a FHR card for this price. This is clearly aimed towards anyone wanting to sell a LHR card, which is very unlikely to be a mining card..

Secondly, as I said, If I wanted to buy new I would. This isn't meant as a discussion about why an extra 1.5k is worth it. Maybe I just want to keep the carb ecosystem going...

I just want to help someone with their CUD 😂

I am guessing zZurp has decided that he finally wants to start/finish/upgrade/complete his build and decided that he is happy with parting with this type of money.

I don't get the "wait" response unless someone asks for it because there will always be a reason to wait. The gpu prices are dropping but there is absolutely no concrete evidence that it will continue going down, SA in general is in for price increases across the board and it would be silly to assume that it can't at least potentially and negatively effect pc parts.

Also the new gen GPUs are an absolute joke if they stay at the power draws that have been confirmed and I see them as much more expensive then the current gen cards, I doubt they will release at the current gens pricing (therefore not pushing down current gen pricing). You really only have to look at the 1080ti to see how bad a "wait" would have been, hell most people are still on 10 series cards (I bet zZurp is on a 10 series card).
