Did you skip a DIMM slot and install in the 2nd slot over?

No I looked up which slots to use. I don't think the 2 sticks are compatible with one another, so they don't run at full speed. Otherwise they are in perfect working condition.

What do you mean by single channel speed? Depending on where you're looking, (which app/programme you're using to check RAM speeds), some apps display 2666MHz as "1333MHz", but it's still running at 2666MHz (because DDR is Double Data Rate) as some apps don't list the speed by multiplying by 2 as the RAM is advertised.
