They now offer 3-5% discount on my next order if I leave a review. So guess that's why they have so many good reviews. But also think its fair and not really buying fake reviews. They promised to get me a phone from Lithuania at a good price within 12 working days and did exactly that. So I will use them again. Can't think that they suddenly turn into a scam on your second purchase... but never impossible

**edit: I said good review, reread email just says "leave a review"

This is some of the dodgiest shit I've ever heard.

Edit: maybe not so dodgy, for some reason in my brain it became "if you leave a positive review."

So you think they gonna scam people on the second purchase? I mean I am open for that idea... will be a good long con.. but then what in 4 months of them running a scam none of the people scammed went back and left bad review?

Also: takealot does the same thing: win R1000 voucher if you leave review. millions of people leaving reviews not even for a guaranteed discount...

Has anyone here bought from them twice?

and ja I know I recently joined so my post here means nothing, would be nice if some of the long standing members could comment of they have ordered there more than once

I take it back, you're right.

Idk why but I thought you said you get a discount for leaving a positive review.

Giving a discount for any review at all is less dodgy. Like you say, Takealot does it too, sort of.

sorry I did say that initially, but then edited. and put the edit notice at bottom. but maybe you read first version. so all good :)

edit: my brain also somehow read the email from itworkup as "good review", wrote it in forum, reread email, it just says "Kindly Leave Us a Review & Receive 3-5% Off Your Next Purchase"

I have tried dealing with them. They don't answer their phone and they take 24 to 48 hours to reply by email. So I think long term service from them is going to be non existent. I noticed the also have a weird VAT number - it's certainly not South African. The frustrating thing also is that their pricing changes daily. I tried to fill a basket with items and when I went back to pay most of them were gone. When I researched for the items they had all gone up, some by R1500.

I will clarify and say I don't think they're scam artists but the management is a bit questionable at this point - it might be teething problems for a newer business. The only time I managed to get them on the phone to ask about the VAT number (I wanted an official tax invoice for my business) the consultant didn't know anything about this but a couple of days later I received an email saying they were busy applying for an SA VAT number.

I ordered a RAM kit from them yesterday, before reading this thread, and will report back here with comments and if I run into any issues (Holding both thumbs for a smooth transaction)

Ordered from them about 2 weeks ago, picked it up, all looks good so far, working well.

Their office is quite nice, I do like their hard drive frames, want to get myself one 😂

Sorry guys, anyone have alternate contact details for itworkup. I have been trying to cancel an order since tuesday and I haven't got an answer via phone or email, meanwhile I got a mail saying my order has shipped.

Got an email saying:

Shipment Details:
Carrier: The Courier Guy
Estimated Delivery: 1-3 working days

No tracking number was provided, I have emailed and asked for one. We'll see what happens by Tuesday.

They don't answer calls but I've been emailing this email address back and forth and they've been replying constantly on a big order: edvinas@itworkup.co.za

They actually emailed me to correct my order as I accidentally ordered incompatible RAM and they swopped for free for a more expensive kit. Going in to collect my order today.

Sent an email this morning for tracking details with The Courier Guy and got it same day later the evening from Timothy.

I still haven't received a reply to the request for tracking details.

Courier guy just delivered my package safe and sound. I can confirm the Ram kit is brand new and box is still sealed and in perfect condition - Ordered on April 24th, so 7 work days total (1st was a holiday)

I'm happy with their service but providing a tracking number would have been great as I missed the first delivery attempt this morning, which could have been avoided if I had the tracking number to expect the courier today. They did respond to all other queries rather promptly so good service overall :)

Copy paste of my google review for ITworkup:

Worst buying experience ever. I recommend to avoid ITworkup and shop elsewhere. I purchased a new motherboard which was listed as local stock but took four weeks shipping from a warehouse. When I finally received the board it was DOA defective. The guys at ITworkup were quick to claim I was responsible for the damaged the board, which is just bullshit and they know it. Do not support these guys, their business integrity sucks ass. They actually expect me to write off the full cost of the board, even though I returned the board to their offices within seven days, as per their website, I should be receiving a refund, but no, I must write it off. Hence this shitty review of a shitty company.

I just went ahead and made a purchase of an ASRock motherboard from ITworkup with the 3% discount, and opted to pay at the store and collect in person.
Received a notificiation that a 100% deposit is required, and that the MB is "has a 10-12 day lead time". No problem.

I know the board would prolly be coming from the Estonia route. I get 7 days, to ensure it works... and based on the above post, I wonder.

In addition, I sent an email to info@itworkup.co.za notifiying of my payment - since some online stores can 'forget' an order - and received an email within 3 hrs from T. Kuypers informing me that I'll be notified when I can collect. So all good thusfar...

Colleague ordered a 12700KF from them, took a bit long but did eventually arrive and sounds like they kept him updated about any delays etc as they found out.

It seems they do bulk imports of specifically ordered items, so they might wait a few days to have enough stuff to bring in at the same time to get whatever rate benefit that means. I'm guessing here, but part of the comms they sent him had a whole list of stuff that wasn't in his order so that's how I arrived at this assumption

Unfortunately them doing grey imports you are also not able to go to local suppliers for support.

They technically are required to state on their listings that these products are grey imports and that they have to cover the warranty for said items, but I doubt they do.

Which local supplier is going to cover motherboard socket pin damage under warranty?
Even Wootware has a thread on MyBB where warranty was denied due to pin damage.

I understand your point regarding no local supplier support but in a case of pin damage it likely would not have mattered where it was purchased.

He didn't state anything about bent pins, he mentioned the board was DOA..

Greetings everyone,

We supplied a brand new, sealed motherboard to you. After you installed the CPU and tried to power on the fully built system, it appeared that it didn't start. Based on our extensive experience, it's common for customers to accidentally bend CPU socket pins or AMD Ryzen CPU pins.

You mentioned that "this is bullshit and we know it" – how could we know it if we never break sealed packages to check the product? This doesn’t make sense.

The motherboard was never listed as in stock at ITworkup. The product listing clearly stated a delivery time of 5-12 working days. You were also informed multiple times via email that delivery would take 5-12 working days. After 8 working days, we shipped it from our office to your address. If you cannot review the terms and conditions before ordering, you should reconsider placing an order.

We are sorry, but we cannot cover brand new products with bent pins. Any physical damage, such as bent motherboard or CPU pins, is not covered by warranty by any company in the world. You cannot claim warranty for such damages with any company.

Thank you for engaging with our company. However, calling us a "shitty" company that delivered a brand new, sealed product at the best market price is unfair.

Update 2024-05-22:

Today, we received this client's motherboard. You can take a look at it on your own. It is 100% physical damage caused by the client, with multiple bent pins, especially in the corner where you remove the CPU if you don’t know how. We don’t think any further comments are necessary.

Greetings,

When customers select the EFT payment option, they are always asked for full payment before the order is processed, as stated prior to placing the order: "We will not ship your order before we receive the payment."

However, for all orders up to R3,000, no deposit or full payment is required, and they are processed instantly. For orders over R3,000, if the client selects Payment on Collection or Payment on Delivery, we require a small R500 deposit. This is because we sometimes receive large orders, such as those over R50,000, and after delivering them to our office, some clients disappear. Thus, this deposit is a symbolic payment to ensure the client is genuine.

Here is the full Collection & Delivery Information:

Thank you for choosing us, and wish you a great day!
