Would you buy one ? Like I was a hater … quality issues galore. But after watching mkbhds video below I kinda am intrigued. Yes it’s flawed and some getting use to it … but would not mind owning one (barring price talks and of course Tesla ain’t available in SA). Just hypothetical talk

It’s more like buying a new gadget than a car …

Would not mind this and hopefully they don’t stray from this design with production models ☝️ …

For me the fundamental premise of EVs being "green" is still faaaar off. Everything from their batteries to how their batteries are charged is as dirty as the laundry of the ANC.

When it comes to the cyber truck itself... musk has just been spouting too many fanciful promises for far too long that either get swept under the carpet or "diluted" from "you'll get from new york to manhattan in minutes to" to "we've simplified it to teslas in tunnels".

Ya they not … def not green lol

Depends, if I had a budget for exactly the cost of a cybertruck then no.

If i had 10 million laying around then yes.

Have you seen the crash test videos?! These things look like they crumple like a 50's Ford Fairlane... aka if you hit a TANK the tank kaks off and you just gooi some polish and it's shap again. lol

I must have been seeing different videos cause the crash videos claim it’s a tank

I saw snipped video on tiktok of they cybertruck beating a Porsche pulling a Porsche, wtf is that shit legit?

No. It's shit and even Musk confesses it's shit. Watch his interview with Joe Rogan. The only positive he has to say about it is that is 'sort of bulletproof'. It looks shit and is shit. There's better ways to waste money if you are inclined to do so. Like working for Eksdom and washing your hands with 30 year old whiskey.

I saw it on a Reel. It's completely crushed at 80KMph.

I watched the review and was just kinda... meh.

I mean I get it but at the same time the market has just become a shitshow of overpriced gimmick trucks. I miss the simplicity of the old bakkie/Ute/pickup.

Was Elon going after Delorean vibes with his choice of metal?

Yes, most definitely!

I was a hater until I saw the videos showing how much thought and just plain good engineering has gone into it. Its not just a gimmick.

Faster than a Porshe while towing a Porsche.
Bulletproof panels
As hard as a Tank! Now some people say this isn't good because of the lack of crumple zones. Being so hard does not mean no crumple zone was designed into the vehicle. Wait for official crash test results to come out before making any conclusions. Tesla has a record of getting extremely good results in crash tests. I doubt this vehicle will be any different. Although I do doubt it will pass any pedestrian impacts tests.
Good range
It actually looks the way it does because they can't bend the steel since it's so hard. Tesla calls it HFS. Which means Hard Fu**en Steel.
The design throughout the vehicle is just so good and practical. Did i mention the steel is Bulletproof? Hell, all these manufacturers starting to come out with Bulletproof cars on special order. Tesla just like, well, let's make it normal on a production vehicle. Windows excluded though. Gangsters gonna love this thing!
Love that they have also taken a massive leap in vehicle electronics and gone to 48Volts. Then Elon sends a manual to all car manufacturers called "How to make a 48-volt vehicle" :ROFLMAO:

But alas, doubt it will go on sale anytime soon. For starters you won't even be able to import one because its LHD.

This is one of the reviews I watched.

There is a dude in Bryanston who drives a Tesla Model 1 X, nobody even bats an eyelid because it looks like a generic hyundai or toyota.

As for the Cybertruck, sourcing spares in SA would be a nightmare, even the tyres are proprietary. Plus it looks like a fridge

I would def not buy one.....it's not better than any other truck on the market that has trucking pedigree (so far at least)...plus all it has going for it is it's EV one trick pony....fast in a straight line. Imagine waking up to the look of that thing every day as well lol.

It's a gimmick on 4 wheels.

As Adam said, yeah, its legit. EV's develop maximum torque from standstill as opposed to a normal vehicle that will only reach max torque at say 3500 RPM for example, engine dependent. This is why electric vehicles accelerate so fast. Wasn't too surprised by this part to be honest but it is a cool marketing video.

There is an electrical company in SA called Rubicon. One of their bosses is related to Elon. They imported and have a Model X. Have seen it around in PE. Pretty impressive! Mayve they will bring one in. Who knows.

Buying it in SA is a no no ... need backup or very deep pockets to maintain that.

The fact that its semi bulletproof and it can push taxis out of the road with that tongue it has sign me up

What is a "Tesla Model 1"? :ROFLMAO:

I rented a Model 3 in SF and went for a drive around the entire bay, best motoring experience of my life - I'm absolutely converted.

I'm disappointed though that many of the features showed in the concept car didn't make it to the production model (not to mention the price hike and range cut) the built-in compressor silently went away and the ramp that was integrated into the tail gate (remember they made such a big deal about this that they designed a CyberQuad around this idea) is no longer, instead they're offering a separate ramp as a $400 optional extra - just a normal ramp, no special integration - and you'll need 2 to load the bloody quad!!!

The ramp was going to be stored in the tailgate. When they added it, it was too heavy. Fair compromise I reckon for something you'll use twice in your life, unless you ride motocross or something, in which case you already have the ramps. The air-compressor would have been good though, that one is a pity.
