Yeah big one. Boks have apparantly said they feel they have enough cover at no 2 to not call up a replacment right now and will decide later in week.

My bet.. Enter Handre Pollard. :cool:

It is the whole colour blind thing, I personally think it is BS but maybe I'm just a d@@s. The whole world must change just because some people can't differentiate between colours. Ja ok maybe I'm just a d@@s but not going to see the Boks play in their traditional green and gold most of the games is just F..dup. Anyway, rant over.

I agree, total BS. Scotland could have played in traditional Blue with boks in White. Anyways apparently, they in their normal green and gold this weekend.

Really?!, I mean they didn't dye the grass pitch a different colour. 😂

Probably the most valuable player to lose. Bongi is ok but not in the same league and neither is any other hooker they can bring in.
The fact is, he is like a 4th loose forward at the breakdowns and is going to be a huge miss for us.

I cant see past France winning this. Perhaps Ireland, in spite of their shocking WC record.
If I had any money it would be on France.

We are going to really miss his turnovers. We have won so many penalties at vital stages from Marx. But let's see what the coaches come up with this weekend and next week.
 
Well in Deon we have the extra loosie, just not sure how rusty his hooker skills are, been ages since he played there but he played quite a few years at hooker. (Also his age maybe a worry, but he seemed to get the minutes in for the stormers in URC, but tests are a bit different though)

And i have not such a big problem with the colorblind accommodating world rugby want to do, but couldn't we just play in our normal white jersey? Or if the patterns is needed why not do it green and that same pattern in gold and black or gold and white, colours that makes sense actually? Or jersey white with green and gold patern?
 
While Malcolm is a big loss, I think many people forget that Bongi outplayed him many a time in the last two years to earn that Jersey and multiple starts.

We're lucky to have the top two tight 5 packs in the world :p If Bongi gets injured then we probably need to worry a little bit....But it's not panic stations by any means...Honestly I'm more concerned about Manie, he's a great player, but when (if) we play France, Ireland, NZ we honestly can't afford to miss any points. Points = pressure and those games will not be won by large margins, so we can't be missing 3-4 kicks a game.

Bongi is not even close to being in the same class as Marx. He has always been our 2nd best hooker and the fact he got so many starts is down to other factors. It's very close to panic stations .
It's not only about the 15 on the field, but the depth on the bench and in the squad. Losing an X-factor player is huge and hopefully Eben recovers sufficiently as well. Deon Fourie is past it and not Bok hooker quality

RE: Manie . You just gotta take the good with the bad and hope for the best with him. He has that X-Factor. He must play and be given the full backing of the team and coaches. Bringing Pollard in cold will be a big mistake and I personally don't want him back. Too late to change anyway. In any case Manie had a great game.

Jessie Kriel has got to go. Too similar to de Allende but without his quality. Lukanya Am was also a big loss. We need a creative player to back up de Allende's massive power game. A pity Canan Moodie got injured. Not sure of his current status.

And please get Willie le Roux as far away from our side. The guy is so useless and has been for years.
It's not 2013 when he burst on to the scene. A total liability.

Bongi. Not on Marx's level I agree, but many teams in the world would take him if the boks dropped him. If we didn't have a Marx, or Marx never existed, then everyone would be in love with Bongi. He just isn't a Marx.

Kriel, never been a fan. He isn't a play maker. He tries to crash through or use pace. But doesn't add what LA can. Even Andre is a better option because he has more power and presence. JK just doesn't bring to field any X factor. You always know what he is going to do.

Willie, I am always on the fence with Willie. He is not great on defense but on attack is deadly with his decisions when and when not to join the backline. Many tries have been scored from hid decisions he has made and fast bullet passes to put players into space. If boks are on the front foot then he is brilliant. If not, then he is crap. I suspect the coaches know this and that's why he only starts when they are expecting front foot ball. Like now against Romania. He is starting. Yet he didn't against Scotland.

Bongi and Marx are great because they complement each other. Our bench is one of our biggest assets so regardless of who starts, you got either Bongi or Marx coming on.

Deon Fourie is not on their level and no other hooker back home is good enough. Sounds like they are going to use Deon which is a big mistake.. He is about to turn 37 in a few days and he was never good enough in his prime.
Oh well. Lets hope for the best.
I think Ireland are gonna give us a wake up call.

I doubt it. But having marx there would have been a bit more suitable to us. Rassie and co are in knockout mode, I believe they will do us proud. The last time we played Ireland they beat us by 3 points in game we should have won with a few contravesial calls. It will be a tight match, but definately no hiding either way. Boks will win in the end. I just hope this post ages well!

Bongi was our no.1 hooker in the last RWC. He started no.2 with Marx no.1 but outperformed Marx to the point we made the no.2 jersey his own, and he thoroughly deserved it. Marx had to up his game and with Bongi getting injured early on in the final Marx came on and had a great game. Bongi might not be at his best at the moment and not at Marx's level, but don't forget what he can offer. I have faith in him and that he will lift his game.

Deon at no.2 is ok against Romania and Tonga, but not against the tier 1 teams, ie. the knockouts. He is a great player but too light at hooker.

Jesse Kriel is solid on the defense and doing well. He is not as flashy as Am is / was, but Am has been far from his best and hasn't been great since his knee injury almost a year ago, honestly I would prefer Jesse there on current form. Am getting injured is sad but probably for the best as he wasn't on form.

Anybody that says Willie is useless should rather watch Netball. Willie makes mistakes, but he does a lot of brilliant stuff that most average supporters don't even notice. I would still pick Willemse above Willie at 15, but Willie is there for a reason.

Eben's injury has been upgraded from 7-10 days to 10-14 days so now in doubt for Ireland game.

With Marx out injured, we might see a change in the back row with an extra fetcher being picked, probably van Staden or Kwagga, probably van Staden.
 
I think Ireland is our only obstacle for the group stages, but Boks are gonna have to up their game for the semi's

Willie is hopeless. I don't know anyone who thinks he should be anywhere near the side. He was a good player in his prime but is just a liability now.

The quarter final and final will probably be a harder game than the semi. In the semi we coming up against teams from pool C and D which are all kak at the moment. Aus, Eng, Wales, Argentina, Fiji etc etc.

Quarter final: France or NZ.
Final. Either France, NZ, or Ireland.

Lol I hate it when people say :poop: like this, Jesse is probably the hardest working player on that field at the moment, his off the ball work and fitness is second to none.

I'm a big Am fan, and Moodie, but I agree Jesse is our best option at the moment
