Hi everyone
Need some purchasing advice on the monitor below.
Currently own a Samsung 24inch BX2450 1080p TN monitor (yes it's old but served me well, and for the time was an excellent monitor) and feel it's time for a little treat myself moment and long overdue upgrade.
So wanna make the jump to 27inch 1440p 144hz screen and had the below model in mind as it fits the budget perfectly and currently on special. (was in the market for the IPS variant, but that is very scarce used and new way to costly.)
Dell S2722DGM 27
Been reading up on reviews and such quite a bit, and for most part it scores quite well but there are quite a few mixed reactions and the only major issues being black smearing (general thing with VA panels it seems)
Went to read up on this and the below is probably the best representations of this on the specific monitor:
This one guy claims he had this very weird issue with the colors shifting, but think something else wrong there.
Review:
Primarily play Single player story driven games (ARPG /RPG), not really into the fast paced competitive gaming scene or games like Apex /BF/Cod and such at this point in time.
Probably the only game i am going to be playing and reason for mostly getting it now is Diablo 4, but want to try and purchase an all rounder as well.
As someone that never owned a VA panel or a curve monitor before hoping for someone on the site that owns this specific model, and can provide some feedback and opinions on this, as also unfortunately don't know someone personally that has one of these models.
Is the curve distracting or does one get use to it quickly in regards to gaming etc ?
Does the curve majorly influence normal working / browsing in Windows ? (like distorted image and such)
As per the Ratings site they state:
The Dell S2722DGM has good text clarity. We recommend running the Window ClearType wizard if you're on a PC; otherwise, there are some text clarity issues with diagonal lines,
Does the colors appeared washed out to the sides or in general even after calibrating ?
Is the black smearing effect a real deal breaker and very distracting while gaming (mostly darker scenes) ?
Any other issues to take note of ?
Any advice / feedback will greatly be appreciated.
Thanks for reading and in advance,
