I haven't driven a Porsche yet either. How do you feel about the 4 vs 6 cylinder argument for the 718?

718s abilities over the 981 is a massive leap ahead ... the cars are much quicker , much more agile. ingear eleasticity is much stronger

only downside it does not sound as good ... to me it doesn't sound like a 4 cylinder either ... has a sweet tone, albeit not like the 981

718 sounds better than an M2

Damn, Good looking but Pricy, for a 2 series.
I know it is German, but hell a guy that buys this car will probably sell it in 3 year for something else.
And that is why i Will save R 200 000 and buy a Ford Mustang 5.0. Looks good IMHO and has some pedigree.
It also has 1 thing the BMW wil never have and that is a V8.
affording a R 1 mil Car, fuel consumption is not important.
Yip, BMW will rather focus on a V10 or V12 engine. Why limit themselves.

The BMW M2 is a monster.. had the privileged of taking it around the track on launch day, the sound that comes out of that car is insane. My favourite M model to date so far :)

I can confirm it’s one of the best cars I’ve ever owned in terms of value for fun and drivability. It’s just pure driving pleasure. Say what you want, Audi, AMG fanboys I've been one of each before.

But drive this little monster and I assure you 110% you will want one. And you’ll sell your wife to buy one.

My choice was between this and a 911 GTS this for 1M less felt on par if not more fun to drive to me.

Eh I dunno.

I see everyone praising BMW and all but I just don't see it from my point of view.
A good big capacity bike will outperform 99% of what's out there for a fraction of the price.
One could argue that a car is safer but going 200+ isn't safe for any vehicle xD

Not hating on BMW, just fast cars in general.
I'm aiming to get a BMW 140i one day over Audi and Merc :p

Anywho, party pooper out.

The M2 Comp makes even the regular M2 look like a tarted up m235i. It's the car the M2 always deserved to be. For once, The only "required" box to tick is the brake upgrade. It makes more sense for me to add an M2 CP (waiting to see CS pricing) as a garage mate for my F10 M5 vs. Trading and buying a new M5 which has also crept up to the wrong side of R2M. Few cars... even older supercars, will give you the experience for 1-1.2M brand new together with the fit, finish and toys. The Mustang is nice but dynamically inferior IMHO... and you have to deal with Ford... the M2 CP is the best car of its kind BMW has made in ages.

Different generations of these cars have their charms... I would love to have an E39 and E60 M5 if I had the space. Together with the F10 and F90, they all have the same DNA but are different enough that they are not really "replacements" for one another.

The 86 was a joke... especially at its current price point. I drove it back to back with my old S2000 at launch (itself a pretty slow car albeit one that makes you feel alive) and it was totally disappointing. They have never fixed the power issue...

Some of us are barred from having bikes... but that's another story

And to think I was sent interior pics when he bought it and how it started rainning ring bell there Jess

When it comes to cars I prefer the "omg iam going to die" feeling.
M123456789 is boring.

E90 M3 is still a dream car for me. That V8 was epic.

FYI - new BMW's are 4.4l V8's with twin turbo's they not making V10's and V12 anymore.

Well that makes the info even better. Thanks bud

BMW said that none of their M cars would come with a turbo...but then the EU emissions forced their hand and now my friend is livid. He hates turbos and drives the E46 M3 for that reason.

I really like the tech that goes into the AMG GT whereby the turbos are situated close to the engine to help emissions and reduce turbo lag. My dads supra has the old school approach to turbo charging. You put your foot down, there's a delay and then all hell breaks loose.

Please excuse me while I go have a moment by myself.

I think the M2 is really a pretty car, the lines, especially rear wide rear arches.

That being said if I ever get to buying a car at this price point, would definitely need to scare the Porsche and BMW salesman and then make a tough choice.
The fast Audis I have driver have never been as fun and engaging, even worked manual TTRS.

For now I settle for my funish slow ST250 :)

Wait, Tesla is coming, your V12 is going to get fucked up by a Duracell battery and and hair dryer motor

Tesla are going to be pricey, but when compared to any other electric cars it's most probably worth it for the premium. Plus if you pick up the "mid-range" Model 3, you get RWD so that you can still call yourself a car person.

If you guys want to discuss silent electric cars, start your own thread this is an M2 Comp S55 thread :sneaky:

No electric car will ever be as awesome as a V12/10/8/6 not if you’re a Motörhead anyway. However RWD is driving, don’t be coming here with your AWD systems speaking about car dynamics and blah blah blah.

Firstly thanks man, this baby really is just a bundle of joy wrapped up in a fine chassis with a lovely motor.

And with no disrespect intended I have to ask, have you driven both on track and in a day to day environment extensively? Because I have and I’ll stand by my statement. And I’m not speaking in terms of supreme build quality (Obviously the Porsche is pure art and refined beauty) I’m speaking about it from a purely price/fun factor.

For your pure Motörhead who likes to abuse a car and do doughnuts everywhere, and still be able to load a 55” TV in the back of your car and potter around town sometimes, this is value. The 911 is not worth 1M more, yes the new one will be (facelift and new beautiful interior with super high end display clusters everywhere) but not the current model 911 GTS for me it’s dated inside and feels old, the new facelift will be one to make anyone moist. And I will probably be singing Porsche fanboy songs by then. (I am a twisted car fanatic) *facepalm*

So for me the bottom line and deciding factor was, unless you’re a Porsche die hard, which I can 100% understand if you are. You should be taking this M2 Comp and driving the shit out of it, because that’s what it want and it’s your duty to give her what she wants.

...For your pure Motörhead who likes to abuse a car and do doughnuts everywhere ... I get you now ... Yeah im not that kind of driver. Dont like abusing my stuff at all ...or doing doughnuts :) ... and neither is that what i think a motorhead or enthusiast is. Prefer going fast in a straight line and fast around the bend ... which in that case an M2 and M3/M4 would be your thing. This is the reason why i cancelled my order on the M4 when they launched. Last M car i had was a 1M in 2013 (had 8 M cars so far)... the newer turbo M cars are different, and i think that is why you have those two camps now ... and the reason also why the older M cars are appreciating in value for the most part

Did not drive the M2 comp but have the M2 and a few 718s. Was in the market for a new car for the wife at the time ... 3 month wait at the time on a competition and i thought "eish" and i didnt

A 718 boxster s or cayman s will be quicker than the M2 competition on a straight line or a track. So its brutally quick ... hence why when you mentioned a 991 gts ... i was like no ways. But i get you , you not talking performance but more fun factor in terms of going sideways ... and agree then M3/M4 and M2 is the weapon of choice. We all different with varying opinions on what is "nice" ... thats why these options exist in the market place ... else everyone would be buying Hyundai i10s :)

edit: the M2 comp of your looks far nicer than the wifes 718 sitting in my garage :) ... plenty of happy and safe miles!
