Hey everyone, I'm having some technical difficulties with my new PC.

When I alt tab out of games, half the time my PC gets stuck to 3 FPS on everything. Sometimes it comes right after 5-10 seconds, but most of the time its like that until I restart my PC.

I don't have a crazy setup but it should be fine to handle alt tabbing lol.

Has anyone had this issue/know a way to fix it?

Specs:
CPU: 7500F
GPU: 6900XT
RAM: 32GB DDR5
M/B: MSI B650-S Wifi

Thanks,
Rooinek
:)

I am no expert in this but I believe you are asking a lot for your OS and hardware to accomplish, the reason must be due to the function of DirectX and google the workings of how the game takes full control over the Graphics card and "bypassing" the OS when playing games and switches to desktop must be hard to do.

Why not just stop alt tabbing in games?

Are you running fullscreen or borderless window?

this used to happen with my old setup. what i used to do is when i get back into the game, i would have to change it from fullscreen to borderless, and then back to fullscreen and it would be back to normal.
Give it a try and see if that works.

Try changing to Borderless full screen.
Some games also have an option to set an FPS limit when out of game, try that.

I'm no expert on DirectX but this should not be a problem at all for even a 4th gen i7 with an SSD and 16GB RAM. It should take 2-5seconds to alt-tab back to the OS.
