Why don't you want to learn assembly? Its super awesome! 😖
dont listen to this man, its trash xD

but seriosuly, it is dependant on your field of expertise, for electrical engineering,
low level embedded, c, c++ and assembly are really good cause you work with registers

for high level gui stuff, c#

for design - unreal etc...

depends what you doing,

so from what i know - finance - python and javascript

We were lectured by Pat Terry at Rhodes who started his Comp Sci year with an intro to assembly language and Turbo Pascal IIRC. After that came C++ etc.

I never did Cobol but it was used at Rhodes for sure but not sure what courses taught it. Comp Sci at Rhodes though has an great history, I first got to play on PCs with touch screens in the 80s/90s as part of the PLATO lab there.

Of course at that time as a kid I didn't know the folk I knew were also the people responsible for pushing internet into SA:

Thanks for the solid advice so far (the interference is expected) - I definitely plan on mastering one language (probably Python to start) & then pick up the rest afterwards.

As for ERP's, @CyNicole - I have heard that most work in SQL but also do think with enough experience I should be able to get familiar with them through use + application.
Then you know more than me lol. I have no idea. I just work here.

As someone who currently works on financial web applications for corporate clients, I'm using C# (specifically in the context of ASP.NET MVC), Javascript and a whole shitfuckton of SQL.

Russian, Mandarin or French, I would even say German would be a good option but maybe im just bias because in my opinion it sounds nice.
