When buying a car from WeBuyCars be very carefull.

If you finance the car they will do the roadworthy.

So this is "on the road fees" It will cost you R6000. They will gladly add this to the finance deal so now you pay this R6000 over 4/5 years and it actually becomes more like R12 000. Bank is smiling.
If they find anything wrong with the car - you will have to pay. Tires smooth? You will have to pay for it. Roadworthy find anything wrong - you will have to pay for it.

Then there is the warranty. R13 000 . Which they will also gladly add to the finance amount.

So be careful - the price on the website is not what you will pay.

The car has to be roadworthy in order for them to sell it and the cost to make it so if anything is wrong is on their account. It can never be for the buyers cost. Only time when this is not applicable is voetstoots

We did buy two good condition used vehicles from Webuycars for decent amount of cash . Yes we paid for COR and license fees , number plates and a few small things needed to pass test this was all done on your own .

We did look at many vehicles that was much cheaper at Webuycars , But those cheaper cars had many faults and priced much lower . So this is why we paid much more for these used cars .

The problem here is not Webuycars but you , Because you want to pay less money and you want the car to be 100% and as if you are buying a brand new car .

I've also never had an issue buying from them, neither has any of my family + friends. I think people walk in there and buy their cheapest car for R65k that has 3 different colour panels and then act surprised when it was a POS.

Saved a decent chunk of money too.

I think you are missing the point. If I sell you a computer for 20 000. But the Hard Drive/SSD is broken. I will charge you R5000 to fix the hard drive. So now the Actual price of the computer is R25 000. Not the R20 000 that I advertised the computer at.

I understand what you're saying, but also you need to exercise diligence when shopping there. Buy one of their gold or platinum rated cars and then there isn't anything they need to fix on it.

You come to my shop [WBC] and buy that same computer for R12 000, but I say you will need a new RAM stick for R450, and I'll charge you for it then you end up paying R12 450. It's still a lot less than buying from another [ Auto Pedigree , Hyundai 2nd Hand, etc '] computer dealer.

I'm honestly not defending them or anything, I just think shopping where you spend less of your hard earned cash is the best. I still buy from Evetech, if they're having a special that is a lot cheaper than wootware, because it's my money at the end of the day and I've never had a problem with Evetech either, despite many people on here telling me it would be dooms day if I have.

bought 3 cars from them (Platinum A), the issue i have with WBC is when you need to use the warranty they add. when we bought the cars they read and tell a nice story of "if anything goes wrong we fix it if we cant fix it, we find you a new car" it was our financial guys words at WBC Midstream. Eco sport gearbox issues, they refused to help or pay, Mazda CX3 start stop issue, they refused to help, Everest actuator failed, refused to help.... you cant buy a car without it, but they refuse to help you when you need it.

Yup, so R13 000 + interest wasted.

 you buy from EVETECH?!?!?!?!?!

I sometimes wonder what the world would look like if all the energy people spent on defending scummy businesses, that they have no affiliation to, was spent on something like curing cancer or ending famine.

The automotive industry, in general, is full of people trying to rip you off on every corner.

That being said, We Buy Cars are the kings of the proverbial shit pile. I have family who have taken them to court and have lawsuits going this very moment. They ripped off my wife with the scams listed above when she bought something there as a surprise.

What is even worse is their attitude when this is brought to their attention. They have the "We have enough business already, we are happy to treat you like shit attitude".

May they rot alongside Evetech.

The fees should be the least of your concerns.

The quality of their vehicles leaves much to be desired. Plenty of bad reviews. They’re good for selling your car quickly but not for buying because you will end up with someone else’s problem. If the previous buyer cared so little about bald tires then imagine the state of the engine.

WeBuyCars is a quick way to dump problem cars that nobody wants to deal with and thats the majority of the trash you see at the floor.
There are sometimes the odd gem in the pile but they few and far between.

A customer of mine bought a BMW X6 Diesel from them and the gearbox needs a 50K rebuild.

no issues with the diesel. That box tho is another story.. Its actually a bit dangerous cause it acts up and goes flashing lights limp mode in 5th/6th gear on the highway

That could end badly for anyone not expecting

I agree. With finance my dad spent wayyy to much. With cash though, only R1500 transfer fees. They are not the best out there.

I understand this is just personal experience, but I purchased a 2012 Honja Jazz from WBC in 2018.
Best car I've ever had. Literally zero issues. Purchased at 60000km, now at 212000 km.
If the price is too good, stay away. Use WBC because there's a lot of choices, but it's risky when you do bargain hunting there it seems.

What kind of a knob buys from WeBuyCars? The clue is in the name. You sell to them, you don't buy from them.

Bunch of Evetech customers in this thread apparently.

All dealers do this on road charges, and most try and throw in warranty also. WBC forces the warranty, most other dealers you can just remove it.

WBC did fix my roadworthy stuff, made deal on half of tyre replacements, and they paid for the new battery.

You should be grateful that the vehicle you bought from WBC actually starts and drives in an acceptable manner.

Be aware that the wording of WBC's standard sales contract (when you buy from them) tries in every way possible to weasel out of the Consumer Protection Act and, crucially, the compulsory and standard six-month warranty you're entitled to because of the Act.

I always wonder what the rate of failure for things like this is.

The car I currently have, I bought new in 2016.
The month after my last payment, ~40 000km the engine blew, got quoted R120k for a new one.
Thankfully the manufacturer pulled through and supplied the engine on good faith.

But imagine if I did the normal thing and sold the car the month I paid it off.
A month later the next guy would have to replace the engine, with 0 warning signs or anything seeming wrong with the car.
And me thinking I sold a perfect condition 2nd hand car.

So if they sell 1 000 cars a month nationwide, and 10 break within a month, that's a 1% failure rate.
Not sure what the "acceptable" failure rate is on normal dealerships, but would love to know the real numbers of good vs bad experiences.

Remember, you always see the worst reviews of anything out there, rarely the best.

Another thing I noticed - the KM's they advertise on the website and the KM's on the Dekra report - is VASTLY different. In one case its 500kms more! I can understand maybe up to 50 kms. But 500 is a bit much!
That's not vastly different. I'd imagine easily accounted for by test drives, testing station drive, a few joyrides etc etc.
