Hi guys,

Looking for some advice. I’m wanting to build a pc again and give streaming a go for fun.
I play a lot of Tarkov so it’s more CPU intensive hence I’ll be running a i5 13th gen. But who knows what I’ll play in the future.

I have the options of a 3060ti or a 3070ti which are second hand.
There’s a 3k price difference between them so I’m not sure as to what I want….
I think the CPU is overkill for a 3060 as well.

Help me make up my mind :)

The NVENC Chip is separate AFAIK, so either one really, whichever suits your budget. You'll probably be streaming at 1080p anyway so Either one really should be fine. I Streamed fine on my 1060 (NVENC), but your system should not take a huge knock if any streaming with either card. Unless you are playing at a high res and pushing the system to its limits, then the NVENC overhead might knock a few fps off.

Apparently the 3060ti and 3070ti (and 3080) have the exact same number of cores for nvenc, so if you are planning to use the nvenc encoder there won't be any difference. x264 is a software encoder that uses your cpu so your gpu choice won't really matter for x264 based streaming.

What can cause more of a fps hit on the CPU is overlays, transitions, and animations in OBS, those all chow CPU even though you are encoding using the NVENC on the GPU.

I’m running a 3070 myself. With Tarkov, especially in its current state, go for the 3070Ti. It’s far more powerful. I play at 1440p and average 50-90FPS, depending on the map. On streets it will drop to 5fps at times (because the map is horrendously optimized). Get the best you can afford, your viewers will thank you for not making them watch a PowerPoint slideshow.

I am just scared to not have the resources. I want to be able to stream and run my games well with no issues.

Very interesting, thank you for the reply.

I am currently using my laptop to play and I cant even run streets on all low/off settings lol...
Laptop is a 1660 and i5 9th gen.

Yeah, apparently streets needs a boatload of RAM, 16Gb doesn't cut it anymore. Saw a video from OpDrewski a few days back...
They seem to have fixed the memory leak issue. I have 24GB but it doesn’t seem to get above 12 in my experience so far.
