Senpai et al.,

I have a weird issue when trying to access Carbonite.

Regardless from which device (phone, desktop, laptop, tablet...) I try to get onto Carbonite, it just times out (tells me to check my internet connection). I've reset my routers multiple times, restarted my devices, tried different browsers. Fokkol. I even tried a WiFi hotspot on another phone (Vodacom) and it does the same. However, when I try to connect via only mobile data (I'm on MTN), it works fine.

Am I missing something obvious?

TL;DR
Carb no work WiFi
Only mobile data
Dafuq?

PS. I still get notifications on my phone regardless of connection type. And yes, my internet connection has zero issues from what we can see.

Sounds like a caching issue. We did disable Cloudflare recently and are moving away from it.

Clear all browsers cache and cookies for good measure and try again @heinreich

It no work padre.
I even tried a fresh browser (never used before) and also a computer that has never even been on Carbonite. Everytime I connect through my Fibre (I'm with Afrihost), it times out. If I use my phone as a hotspot and connect any device to it (desktop, laptop etc), it works seamlessly. So it seems to be narrowed down to my ISP?

I've tried to get a new IP via hard reset but no luck. I've asked them to reset/recycle my IP on their end. Will update if that changes something. Just odd because it feels like this has happened out if nowhere. Was working fine one day, the next I have this.

Yeah definitely sounds like an Afrihost issue. DNS is likely.

DNS issues can be local issues that do this too. Depending on how many routers/switches connection management with DNS can fuhh around.

Also side note, @Ageless_ZA is there a reason for the move from CloudFlare (I have a lot there, so curious) to a better CDN, or provider?

@FatManK Yes, their greed. They have been routing us via a US node for the last 6 months. You may have noticed the speed of the site has grown immensely in the last 3 or so days.

To fix our routing, I would have had to pay for ARGO to be routed locally. (which would have added about $150 a month extra to our bill.) So I told them to go fuck themselves.

The network setup is quite simple:
1. ONT (directly into main router)
2. Main router (ASUS)
3. 2nd router (wireless AC point / extender)
4. D-Link switch in garage (connected via cable to main router) for occasional experiment and Plex server / some home automation goodies.

Silly question but what could happen 'almost overnight' so that nothing in the house connects to Carbonite (when done via my fibre connection), yet everything else works flawlessly (internet wise).

Any suggestions would be welcomed

Having the same issue with my work IP, currently set to a voda static ip

Took them two tries, but they eventually recycled my IP. Now it works via fibre connection again (y)

Yeah, mega weird. I recall it doing the same a couple of moons ago. Wrote it off as some network issue. But this has been persistent for a few days now. And multiple restarts/resets/different devices and browsers showed no difference. ISP getting my IP reassigned sorted it out.

Anyway, sorted. Closing thread
