Id like to know if anyone here has done this, and Id like to know if you can give me any tips in doing this.

I have already made a cut out with 3mm wood to replace the front mesh panel covers of the scout, and started marking off the diameter of the fans where they are placed.
To facilitate the position of the fans I have fastened the fans to the case without the front cover in place. Then I place the new front cover half way over the fans to be able to mark off the sizes. This was the used to get the center and then mark off the diameter of the fans with a drafting compass, 140mm and 120mm respectively. Now although the sizes have been marked out i have not yet done the cut out, I’m hoping to get it done within the week.
I also would like to know from a visual point, would it be a good idea to put that rubbery around the edge of the cut out holes to finish it off? What’s that stuff called? Where can it be bought? just as a test ive used stripped cable sleeving.

Or maybe as in the link, that nice cover that goes over the fan, does anybody have some good suggestions as to what can be used? I’ve been doing some modeling with cut off plastic pots for plants. LOL! It actually does work because of the tapered shape of the pot, you can get the perfect size.

Any help/ suggestions will be appreciated.
