Stalker 2

This is right at the top of my wishlist. The original was one of the few games that I found actually scary when it came out. And not just jump scares, they absolutely nailed the atmosphere of The Zone.

I hope 2 maintains the same standard.

I agree with you, and the way S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Skies had done the clouds, sun effects, etc. was amazing for the time IMO.

Really looking forward to the next one.

I keep getting tempted to fire off the approx R950 on Steam for the base pre-order as I am inevitably going to be buying this. Specs seem doable although I think my RX 7700 XT will have to work for its money but loving what I've seen so far. Just hope it plays well.

Golden rule. Never pre-order. We have been rewarding studios for too long by pre-ordering their messes and waiting for months for it to become playable.

Give them money when they give you a product that works.

That said, I play Escape from Tarkov so actually just ignore everything I ever say.

It's on Game Pass. You can buy one month of membership just to try it out, if you don't already have it.

Preloads are apparently available from today.

I have Gamepass for the Xbox but have never tried using the account on PC, can I use on both simultaneously? Not sur what the limitations are.

If you have plain Game Pass for Xbox then PC isn't included. If you have Ultimate then (I believe) it is included?

But it's like R 120 for the PC version.

Pre-order of the base doesn't really add much except a bit more chit chat around the fire. But the other pre-orders ramp significantly in cost (kinda like Tarkov I guess) but only the top tier one includes future DLC. My interest is honestly more just in installing it ahead of time. I know people have played already for a few hours but haven't really seen anything solid in terms of reviews. Visually it looks great though. Having played Body Cam my system should be fine for it.

Honestly the only reason I haven't is because I tend to play very few games. I waste a lot of my life on Fallout 76 I must admit though. My son actively chops and changes on xbox so its spared me from bankruptcy there!

WHY would you still play Escape from Tarkov dude? Nooo man, have some self respect. Sis.

Upgrade to Ultimate for like one month, then you can pre-install it and try it on PC, then you can cancel the subscription later.

Oof, and one comment says that they omitted on the chart that FSR or DLSS is required to hit these peeformance categories:

There are usually one or two high quality settings like volumetric lighting or ambient occlusion where you can sacrifice one to get playable framerates with otherwise decent settings. Emphasis on usually.

I want them to remake the original games🥰
In a certain sense, the game STALKERSOUP is a kind of remake of all three, along with a whole lot of other mods added in.
Pros:
1: It is immense, I have just finished level 0, which took 4 months to play.
2: Is is ever-expanding, meaning they are constantly adding new content. It is currently on level 2, though that level is not complete.
3: Quality is great and it supports DV11
4; It is currently totally free to download

Cons:
1: It is still 32-bit, although a 64-bit is planned.
2: It is still very much in development, so it is prone to CTDs, bad English translations and incomplete storylines.
3: Installation instructions are a quite convoluted, in order to get it working, but in my humble opinion, totally worth the time and effort put in.

A bit silly for people to expect super optimization from a studio whose last FPS title performed like this

Thanks for the link, I replayed the series with HD texture packs a while back but an all in one sounds good too.

You are so welcome, I STRONGLY suggest also going to the forum and downloading pchester's excellent walkthrough, so that you can play the game "correctly" as it were. It can get quite convoluted.
The latest installation files, updates and installation guides are also on the forum site. DO NOT download the files from MODDB, they are horribly outdated.

LOL not a problem I'm one of those people who replayed Skyrim several times running some 80+ mods :D

Has anyone successfully preinstalled this using Game Pass? I tried but it only downloaded like 10mb and then said it was done, despite the download size apparently being (!) 150gb.

This is normal for Game Pass pre-installs. The installation will start when the game is actually released.

By the way, thank you for mentioning this is on Game Pass, flew right under my radar. 🙏
