Please be careful. I live in jbay and saw this exact same ad on Facebook on a local group.

Almost went for it. On Facebook, the number was listed. When I Googled the number, I found at least 3 different Facebook profiles, selling different stuff under different names with stock images as profile pics and banners I could reverse search. 2 accounts being brand new and made in November.

When I asked the reason for selling yesterday on Facebook, I was told it's a deposit for a car. Here it's listed as travelling. Be careful. This is a brand-new account and this is very cheap. Pm me if you want me to link to the profiles - or facebook ads.

Originally listed as R7500 for deposit on a new scooter, but sadly couldn't sell it for that price. Thus I dropped and dropped the price until it stands where it is now so I could buy a bus ticket to go back home. I didn't feel like broadcasting the whole sad story to everyone (especially not on Facebook where family/friends can see) so I made a new account. Simple as that. I understand it looks suspect, I don't blame anyone for thinking it's scammy, but that's the truth.

Went to Jbay to buy it from @wynwyn. All legit smooth sale, I offered R3500 if he agreed to meet at McDonalds. Set it up now and PC works perfectly on Heaven benchmark. Super happy, CPU is way better than my current PC.

He seems like a great guy I don't know why ya'll attacking him unfairly. If you worried meet at a public place.

Also @FriendlyToast I don't think you know how to reverse search a number.

You need to step outside the forum. Just because somebody has no rating on an internet site does not mean they are automatically a scammer.

If you buying from Gumtree everything on there is basically from a stranger.

I've been here since 2017, only ever bought 2 things off here.

A lot of us have been burnt by being naive.

But you did the right thing by meeting in person and checking it all out properly.

Glad it went well and you got a great deal. The fake profile + super low pricing raised alarms for me (although he did explain why) as, JBay isn't exactly Waterkloof and there are lots of scams doing the rounds here on local FB groups.
