Hi All,

Hope everyone is doing well.

I need some advice on a router purchase. Currently I have a Tenda AC6 (ISP supplied going on 3 years old)

Looking to upgrade my router to something more "newer" and looking at the following;

- Tenda TX3 (TX3 AX1800 Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Router -Tenda (South Africa))
- Tenda AC21 (Tenda AC21 AC2100 Dual-Band Gigabit Wireless Router -Tenda (South Africa))

Currently I do not have any devices that is using the new wifi protocal.

We got a 50/50 Line, on the wifi the 2.4ghz has 4 devices on and the 5ghz has 2 devices with 1 device on the LAN.

My budget is R1 300

Seen some Asus routers (RT55 and AC87) in the price range as well but not sure how it compares.

looking forward to the help :)

Thanks

Often, ASUs routers can be flashed with OpenWrt

Here’s a list ASUS

I’d go with what someone suggests and if it can receive the latest version of OpenWRt

I’d also suggest looking at the Huawei router - I have one and it’s cheap and effective.

@JollyJamma thanks for the reply bud, I spoke to one of the techies at my ISP he has that router and Tenda AC10 and he prefers the AC10.

Getting mixed emotions :( as I have a family member that has the Huawei and the Wifi in a single story house is bad.

Seen TP Link has a C80 which also looks appealing but the 3x3 MMO is what does not catch my eye and the Tenda has 4x4.
