Job Title: Technical Experience Specialist

Location: Johannesburg / Remote position

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: R10,000-R25,000 experience dependent



Job Description:

A leading provider of software systems for Tour Operators is looking for a full-time Technical Experience Specialist to join our team. Tourplan specializes in providing niche market tour operator software including a full suite of back, mid, and front office solutions along with integrated internet distribution and purchasing tools.



The Africa office looks after sales, installations, implementations, training & support for Southern Africa, East Africa, West Africa, Central Africa, and the Indian Ocean Islands. We are looking for a technical support professional with a results-driven mindset who can provide technical support to customers through multiple channels, including telephone, email, and Helpdesk, as well as remote support tools. In addition you will be required to offer infrastructure technical support to our staff members.



A qualified candidate for this position would likely have 2-years experience troubleshooting technical issues and providing solutions to customers through a variety of communication channels. They should also possess strong problem-solving skills, be comfortable with various operating systems and software applications, and have experience working with remote support tools.



In terms of infrastructure technical support, the ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of networking concepts, virtualization, cloud computing, and other related technologies. They should also be able to identify and resolve hardware and software issues on servers, workstations, and other devices.



The ideal candidate needs to be able to work remotely and manage their own workloads and time schedules.



Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance to end-users on our solutions, including responding to customer queries in a timely and effective manner, via phone, email, ticket system and remote support tools
  • Troubleshoot and problem resolution at all levels to enhance the client’s overall experience
  • Provide timely and effective infrastructure technical support to staff members
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware issues, document and escalate to appropriate team members as necessary
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve complex technical issues and implement effective solutions
  • Follow established procedures for problem resolution and escalation
  • Provide accurate and timely updates to clients and customers on the status of their support requests
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current on emerging technologies and industry best practices




Skill and qualifications required:

  • Higher Education (Degree, Diploma or Tertiary IT Course)
  • Minimum 2-years’ IT or software support experience (ideally in travel technology or travel company)
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems, networking protocols, and software applications
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Basic understanding of system architecture
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service sills
  • Experience in accounting is a distinct advantage (Bank Reconciliations, Foreign Exchange Variations, Balancing, Month-end Processes, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • A willingness to learn, troubleshoot and design solutions
  • Knowledge of XML and API requests advantageous
  • SQL database maintenance and scripting experience(Simple)
  • Tourism and hospitality experience is an advantage
