Hey fellow carbies!

I have a question which might have already been answered by Jeff Geerling himself in one of his videos (
)

I want to find out if anyone has or knows of being able to use a PCI-E 1x to 16x riser (USB 3.0 cable type) to run different PCI-E cards other than a GPU. In my case I want to run a USB 3.0 add on card and my board in my HP 290 G1 has the PCI-E 1x right under the 16x slot which is being covered up by the GPU.

I'm not going to run USB out directly from the PCI-E 1x connector as this electronically will not work (this much I do know), but from what I have seen in his video using the 1x to 16 risers on a PI CM4 it can be done? I just want find out from you guys who know more than I if this is actually possible and if someone has done it and what cards you were able to connect to it.

The USB 3.0 card I want to use will be an Orico 3 Port USB3.0|Type-C PCI-E Express Card ( Takealot ) so the card itself is already a 1x PCI-E card so I know it will run fine in either the boards 16x or 1x slot.

Thanx in advance.
