Thats true for the ellies units with smart card slots (First Gen) iirc, There are a few work arounds apparently. Hence its a PIF not for sale.

This one was still working as at end November 2021.

Will add the exact model number when I get home.

You can. Being a rebranded item it may use the battery from a popular brand.

I've used these guys before for my Makita Drill.
